You should have received an email last Monday announcing that, in response to skyrocketing case numbers throughout our region, we have decided to temporarily move most in-person classes, labs, and services online from the start of the semester until Monday, January 31 for all Los Rios colleges (American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City). Impossible to convert Career Education programs that were held in-person during the last year will continue to be held in-person. Other classes such as traditional lecture classes, science labs, arts, and ESL classes will move online for this two-week period.

Our Reopening webpage has been updated with specific information about which programs and services will remain in person, and will continue to be updated in the days and weeks ahead with any changes to this information.

Consistent with evolving recommendations from the public health community, we strongly recommend that all students and employees who are on campus use surgical masks or higher-level respirator N95 or KN95 masks as opposed to cloth masks or any other face covering providing less protection (read the California Department of Public Health’s latest guidance on masks and face coverings). Masks will be available in classrooms or upon request from the Operations office. If you need masks for your office or department, please speak to your dean, manager or supervisor.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality. Traffickers might use violence, manipulation, or false promises of well-paying jobs or romantic relationships to lure victims into trafficking situations.
