8 Week 2 Term Starts Next Week

The fall semester is nearly halfway through! Just a reminder that the second 8-week (8W2) term starts Thursday, Oct. 14. There are still open "late-start" classes, but students need to act now to enroll.

Virtual Career Fair October 20

The Los Rios Virtual Career Fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. via Handshake, an online job board and platform. The fair is completely free to students and offers many great features such as job opportunities, internships, webinars, and other events. Students can learn more and sign up now on Handshake.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the CDC other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. The National Breast Cancer Foundation provides early detection screenings, including mammograms, breast health education and a supportive community. For more information please visit:

Indigenous People's Day is Monday, Oct. 11

Join us Monday, Oct. 11 at noon as we celebrate the indigenous people who lived on these lands prior to colonization.

This event will acknowledge and honor Native American traditions and cultures.

SCC President Michael Gutierrez will hold scheduled office hours during the fall semester. Upcoming office hours dates are as follows:
