SCC’s Russ Solomon Gallery Presents: Dianne Rose – A Celebration of SCC Sports Photography

The Russ Solomon Gallery at Sacramento City College is happy to announce its latest exhibition featuring the work of SCC alum and renowned sports photographer, Dianne Rose. This showcase highlights the energy and passion of SCC’s athletic events, captured through Dianne's expert lens. Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where you’ll have the chance to see some of the most captivating moments in SCC sports history. 

The Russ Solomon Gallery is located on the second floor of the Student Services building on the northwest corner of Sacramento City College’s campus. Named in honor of City College Photography alum and Tower Records founder Russ Solomon. Spread the word and come celebrate the art and dedication of one of our own!

Disability Cultural Center Coming Soon to SCC!

We are excited to announce that we are creating a Disability Cultural Center (DCC) at Sacramento City College sometime in late Fall/early Spring! Similar to the role and purpose of other identity centers at SCC (such as the Pride Center and ASHE Center), the goal of the DCC is to promote student equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging amongst those with disabilities* in our campus community. The DCC will offer a dedicated space where disabled individuals can gather, share experiences, learn about resources, and advocate to create change. The center will also provide workshops, training, and events focused on disability culture, history, and rights, nurturing a deeper understanding among the broader student body, faculty, and staff.  

As we prepare to launch the Disability Cultural Center, we need your input! Please complete our survey to share your thoughts about what you'd like the DCC to accomplish and what it should look like.

 *The terms "disabled" and "disability" are used to represent the broad spectrum of folks in the disability community (D/deaf, hard-of-hearing, neurodivergent, autistic, learning disabled, chronically ill, blind/low vision, physically disabled, etc.).

National Suicide Prevention Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to spreading hope and vital information to people affected by suicide – learn ways you can help. If you or someone you know is in an emergency, call or text 988 for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911 immediately.

Los Rios Student Mental Health and Wellness Services

Los Rios students are entitled to free services designed to help manage stress and support positive mental health practices. Please encourage students to take advantage of the resources available and make themselves a priority!

• Peer Support: Find a safe online space to connect anonymously with other students to get and give support.
• Therapy and Advocacy: Meet with a Student Health and Wellness Center therapist or advocate in person or virtually.
• Online Therapy: Talk to an online licensed therapist during the day, evenings, and weekends.

Encourage students to take advantage of our Fall Transfer Workshops! These sessions are designed to provide the guidance and support they need for a smooth transition to a four-year university. Help them get the answers and resources to make their transfer journey successful. Share this valuable opportunity with your students this semester!
