ARC, CRC, FLC, SCC Pride Center Statement of Support for LGBTQIA+ Community

The staff and faculty in the Pride Centers across Los Rios Community College District are deeply troubled by the recent Executive Order that denies recognition of gender identities beyond the binary of male and female sex assigned at birth. This action attempts to erase the existence and human rights of transgender and non-binary individuals, creating significant barriers to travel, healthcare access, and basic acknowledgment of identity. Additional orders attacking the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and protections against sex discrimination further threaten the well-being of vulnerable LGBTQIA+ populations.

While the constitutionality of these orders is questionable, they have already sparked fear and anxiety among community members. We want to reassure our community: our centers’ doors remain open, and our resolve to serve and uplift our diverse LGBTQIA+ community remains unshaken. Together, we are strong. Together, we will endure. Together, we will support students while they complete their educational journeys to improve their lives during and after their time at Los Rios.

In solidarity,

Tiffany Clark, SCC Pride Center, clarkt@scc.losrios.edu

Each year is associated with a different animal from the Chinese Zodiac – 2025 is the Year of the Snake!
