COVID-19 Vaccine Info Session & Update
Will you choose to be vaccinated when the vaccine is available to you? Los Rios Health and Wellness staff, including consulting physician Dr. Joseph Iser, will present up-to-date information on the new COVID vaccines and address some of the most frequently asked questions at an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. on Zoom. This session will be recorded if you can't join us in real time.
Kaiser & Dignity to Use FLC & SCC as Vaccination Sites
In the interest of public health, we have offered our campuses as potential community vaccination sites to regional health care providers. Kaiser and Dignity currently have plans to provide vaccinations at Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College, respectively. It’s important to note that, unfortunately, the use of our facilities will in no way expedite vaccinations for Los Rios students and employees directly.
Please do not come to campus unless you have received word from your healthcare provider to do so. If you have questions about whether you are eligible to receive the vaccine and are a Kaiser or Dignity member, please contact your healthcare provider directly for more information.

Did You Know: Website Style Guide
Los Rios has developed a website style guide that helps us all write clear and consistent content across all five websites — ARC, CRC, District, FLC, and SCC. The guide is a reference for when you're writing for the web.
The guide is not traditional in format or content. Writing for the web is different than writing for books, manuals, lectures, or correspondence. We break a number of grammar rules for clarity, practicality, or preference.

Virtual Blood Drive
Los Rios partners with Vitalant to host lifesaving blood drives throughout the year. With all the changes we have experienced during the pandemic, hosting a blood drive on-site is not possible at this time. That is why we are hosting a Virtual Blood Drive from February 15 through May 7.
This is your invitation to take part in this innovative event to support patients in our community!
Participating in the virtual blood drive is easy. (For us to track the virtual blood drive donations, you need to follow these steps):
- Sign up for the virtual blood drive to get your emailed invitation to schedule your appointment.
- When your email arrives, click “Schedule Now” to book your appointment at any convenient Vitalant blood donation location using the same email address you used to sign up. This is important because it helps Vitalant connect your donation to our organization’s virtual blood drive.
- To search for a convenient Vitalant donation center or blood drive use the zip code or blood drive code of the location where you want to donate.
- Prepare for your donation by eating a healthy meal and drinking plenty of water. Remember to bring a photo ID with you.
- Give blood, transform lives!
In times when we can’t be together in person, we can still come together in support of our community. Every pint collected is precious to the patients who receive it. Realize your life-transforming potential, donate blood and save up to three lives!

The Celebration of Excellence is an annual event recognizing special people who have played an important role in building the success of Sacramento City College. Once again, the Honors and Awards Committee is recognizing employees for the Individual Excellence Award and the Team Excellence Award for exemplary performance and achievement.
The Individual Excellence Award is open for nominations of any administrative, certificated, or classified professional, full time, part time, or temporary, who has demonstrated excellence in their daily activities and contributed to the enhancement and prestige of the college. For the Team Excellence Award, a team is defined as a group of interdependent people who work collaboratively and closely together toward a common goal. Team members may not nominate their own team.
Nominations are due Friday, March 15, 2021 by 5 p.m.
In order to submit a nomination, please:
-
Complete an Individual Excellence Award nomination form or Team Excellence Award nomination form (you will need to sign in to your Los Rios Google Apps account via your Wxxxxxxx@apps.losrios.edu email address to complete either form); and
- Create a 2-3 minute video nomination (1 GB limit), which you will upload to the nomination form. Please explain — with examples — why this nominee/team should be considered for the Excellence Award using the following eight criteria:
- Exhibits expertise in job area
- Performs job in an exemplary manner
- Works for the betterment of the college and its students

- Represents the college with distinction in professional and community activities
- Earns the respect of fellow employees and/or students involved in campus events
- Volunteers time and energy above and beyond assignment
- Promotes the values of anti-racism and equity-mindedness
You may be as creative as you like in the video nomination. The video nomination may include PowerPoint slides, live footage of the nominee/team in action, narration, recording of a Zoom meeting, etc. This video will be shown at Fall Convocation to introduce the awardee. The Honors and Awards Committee asks you to provide sufficient information so we can evaluate all submissions as fairly as possible.
