Tenure Reception: Congratulations!

On Thursday, October 12, SCC’s Office of Instruction hosted a reception to honor 19 newly-tenured faculty members, as well as 4 newly-hired tenure-track recipients. Tenured faculty members are committed to the institution to develop ties with the local community, pursue ongoing research projects, and mentor students and beginning scholars over the long term.

Forrest Lesch-Middelton Ceramic Workshop

Halloween Clothing Swap

Get ready for a spooktacular Halloween Clothing Swap hosted by SCC's Sustainability and Environmental Club! Trade your gently used garments for something fresh and exciting on Tuesday, October 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Quad and let's make this Fall season a bit greener.

Lillard Hall Renamed Natural Sciences Building

The former Lillard Hall building at Sacramento City College is now the Natural Sciences Building (NAS). The newly constructed facility houses the college’s Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Geography programs. Listings in the course schedule and references online may use the abbreviation “NAS.” The building is located at the southwest corner of campus, at the Freeport and Sutterville intersection.

LGBT History Month

October is LGBT History Month, an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) history which includes the history of the gay rights-related civil rights movements and celebrates the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. To commemorate LGBT History Month, learn more about 31 LGBT icons including activist and historian Madeline Davis, WNBA all-star Brittney Griner, Pulitzer-winning playwright Michael R. Jackson, tech journalist Kara Swisher, and best-selling author Roxane Gay.

Do Your Part to Stop Cyberbullying

In October, we observe National Bullying Awareness Month, shedding light on an issue that affects so many students. Cyberbullying manifests in various forms, such as trolling, catfishing, and sexual harassment. The rise of cyberbullying has become a significant concern, especially with the prevalence of social media use among college students. Studies from the American Counseling Association revealed that 22% of college students have experienced online bullying, and a staggering 38% of participants knew someone who had experienced it.
