Consider Enrolling in One More Class
Late start classes begin March 16 and you still have time to enroll in one more class this semester!

Did you know over 60% of Sacramento City College students attend on a part-time basis (less than 12 units per semester)? However, a growing body of research shows that community college students who initially enroll in 6 or 9 units a semester, and enroll in “one more course” each semester, are much more likely to stick with college, save money, and earn an associate degree or transfer in about two to three years, as opposed to their part-time counterparts who may take as long as five years to complete their program.

If you have the time to devote to this goal this Fall 2020 semester, consider taking one more class to:

  • Get closer to graduation!
  • Get closer to transferring!
  • Get closer to getting the job you want!

COVID-19 Vaccine Info Session & Update
Will you choose to be vaccinated when the vaccine is available to you? Los Rios Health and Wellness staff, including consulting physician Dr. Joseph Iser, will present up-to-date information on the new COVID vaccines and address some of the most frequently asked questions at an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. on Zoom. This session will be recorded if you can't join us in real time.

Kaiser & Dignity to Use FLC & SCC as Vaccination Sites
In the interest of public health, we have offered our campuses as potential community vaccination sites to regional health care providers. Kaiser and Dignity currently have plans to provide vaccinations at Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College, respectively. It’s important to note that, unfortunately, the use of our facilities will in no way expedite vaccinations for Los Rios students and employees directly.

Please do not come to campus unless you have received word from your healthcare provider to do so. If you have questions about whether you are eligible to receive the vaccine and are a Kaiser or Dignity member, please contact your healthcare provider directly for more information.
Virtual Blood Drive
Los Rios partners with Vitalant to host lifesaving blood drives throughout the year. With all the changes we have experienced during the pandemic, hosting a blood drive on-site is not possible at this time. That is why we are hosting a Virtual Blood Drive from February 15 through May 7.
This is your invitation to take part in this innovative event to support patients in our community!
Participating in the virtual blood drive is easy. (For us to track the virtual blood drive donations, you need to follow these steps):

  1. Sign up for the virtual blood drive to get your emailed invitation to schedule your appointment.
  2. When your email arrives, click “Schedule Now” to book your appointment at any convenient Vitalant blood donation location using the same email address you used to sign up. This is important because it helps Vitalant connect your donation to our organization’s virtual blood drive.
  3. To search for a convenient Vitalant donation center or blood drive use the zip code or blood drive code of the location where you want to donate.
  4. Prepare for your donation by eating a healthy meal and drinking plenty of water. Remember to bring a photo ID with you.
  5. Give blood, transform lives!

In times when we can’t be together in person, we can still come together in support of our community. Every pint collected is precious to the patients who receive it. Realize your life-transforming potential, donate blood and save up to three lives!
