May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. During May, a national movement fights stigma, provides support, educates the public and advocates for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities. Mental Health support and therapy are available to LRCCD students at no cost through Timely MD. Telehealth services can be utilized for free in the moment support and/or for free scheduled short-term therapy.

Movies for Mental Health
LRCCD Health & Wellness Services and SCC Counseling will be hosting Movies for Mental Health on Monday, May 10, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Zoom. Movies for Mental Health are 2-hour workshops on college and university campuses that focus on empowering young adults, educators, health professionals and community members to gain a better understanding of mental health within their environment.
De-Stress with Us!
De-Stress Fest kicks off Friday, May 7, with a painting session and continues the next few days with yoga, milk tea, and meditation meetups to help you breathe as you prepare for finals!

Be sure to register in advance to receive your free activity kits, such as a painting kit and milk tea kit, delivered straight to your doorstep!
Celebrate API Week
Celebrate API Week with us, May 3 through May 7, with a film festival and a series of workshops! These are great opportunities to come together, show support, and learn more about the Asian American and Pacific Islander experience.
SCC Students Take 2nd and 3rd Place in Cyber Cup Challenge!
Congratulations to our students who took home the 2nd and 3rd place awards in the recent Mayor's Cyber Cup Challenge!

Students prepared for one month for the competition, which covered different areas in cybersecurity, such as deciphering hidden messages, analyzing logs to detect hacker activity, using publicly available data and tools to extract information and more. Preparation included weekly live webinars and team members working together to achieve their goals.

Congratulations to SCC student Jenn Galinato who has been elected to represent all of the Los Rios student body as the Student Trustee! In addition to serving as the student voice on the Board of Trustees, the Student Trustee chairs the Student Advisory Committee, which provides a forum for communication and exchange of ideas, information, and concerns among students. Special thanks to FLC student Toni Schiffmaier who served as the Student Trustee for the 2020-2021 year!
