The CalWORKs program at SCC has moved! Now located on the 2nd floor of the South Gym/Student Center in Room 205, CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) offers essential support for eligible students, including counseling, employment resources, and more to help students reach their educational and career goals.

Coming Up For Air: In Support of Nature and Equitable Outdoor Spaces
Join Professor Rosalinda Salazar on Monday, November 18, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the orange tables outside of the Natural Sciences Building for a restorative outdoor experience that event emphasizes the benefits of spending time in natural settings for physical, psychological, and emotional well-being.

Honor and Support the Transgender Community
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance on Wednesday, November 20, that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Transgender Day of Remembrance was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester's death and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. Fall Application Lab – Get Help With Your Transfer Application!
The SCC Transfer Center invites students to our 3-Day Fall Application Open Lab, designed to help with Fall 2025 transfer applications. Please spread the word and encourage students to stop by anytime over three days. Laptops, snacks, and refreshments will be provided for all participants.

Passing of a Colleague
It is with a heavy heart that we share news of the passing of Dr. Barbara Jean Dunn Cooke, a beloved retired faculty member, who dedicated over three decades to Sacramento City College. Barbara passed away on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 89.
Barbara joined Sacramento City College in 1968 as a professor in the Nursing program, where she taught medical surgery and pediatrics. Known for her commitment to academic rigor and compassionate student mentorship, she rose to Assistant Dean of Allied Health, inspiring countless students to reach their highest potential.
