Take a Gerontology Class, Here’s Why
Did you know that by the year 2050, nearly 20% of the United States population will be 65 or older, compared to 15% today? As our nation ages, changes will be needed in many aspects of our workplaces, economy, healthcare, and society in general. Surveys of employers in our area indicate that knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of elders is of great value! In fact, even one course in Gerontology (the study of aging) would make a candidate more employable compared to a candidate without one! This means, no matter what your major/career path, you may want to consider taking a Gerontology course, completing one or more of our low-unit GerontologyStackable Certificates and/or the Gerontology A.S. Degree. Bonus! Many Gerontology courses count toward General Education requirements and are transferable.

The Importance of Being Earnest
By Oscar Wilde • Directed by Pam Downs
Live: Friday, April 22 through Sunday, May 1 at American River College's Mainstage Theatre
Fri/Sat at 7:30pm • Sundays at 2pm

Oscar Wilde’s madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements, and lovers’ entanglements has been a theatre staple since it first hit the scene in the 1890s—and now it has finally come to ARC! Full of eccentric characters (in gorgeous costumes), preposterous situations, and rapid fire wit, Earnest is also known for its full-scale skewering of Victorian hypocrisy and social hierarchies. Don't miss your opportunity to see the play considered to be Wilde’s masterpiece!
