Thanks to a $100,000 grant from Johnson Control Inc (JCI), SCC has been able to offer scholarships, tool bags, textbooks and loaner laptops for all MET program students! The partnership with JCI has been ongoing, with the company increasing their contribution from last year's $90,000 grant. The funding will change lives, supporting our MET students in their pursuit of careers in engineering, technicians and community leaders. | |

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is held each October as a way to unite advocates across the nation in their efforts to end domestic violence. Communities and advocacy organizations across the country connect with the public and one another throughout the month to raise awareness about the signs of abuse and ways to stop it, and to uplift survivor stories.
This is a chance for all of us to unite in the work to end domestic violence. We invite advocates, loved ones, supporters, and others to join together in solidarity, and to listen to and uplift survivors directly. With so many people speaking in a unified voice throughout October, we can raise our collective awareness about domestic violence to end abuse for good.
To find out ways to get involved or learn more, please visit the WEAVE, Inc. website.

How to Avoid Phishing Emails
Phishing scams continue to grow increasingly frequent and hard to spot, but please be aware that the Los Rios colleges will not contact you directly via email with job applications or requesting your personal information. Los Rios job opportunities are posted on Handshake. Some things to look for that might indicate the email you’re looking at is a phishing scam:
- Urgent action demands
- Odd or unrecognizable “Sender” email address or URLs
- Poor grammar and spelling errors
- An unfamiliar greeting or salutation
- Requests for login credentials, payment information, or sensitive data
