Another Semester in the Books!

Congratulations on making it to the end of the spring semester and the end of another academic year! We know that the last two-and-a-half years have been challenging for many students, faculty, and staff. Your hard work, resilience, and perseverance are to be commended. Thank you for all you do, Panther! So what's next?

Summer 2022

Open enrollment for summer classes is happening now! There are still openings in many classes that can help students stay on track or get ahead. Classes begin June 6.

Fall 2022

The fall schedule includes a mixture of online and in-person classes. Priority registration is happening now with open enrollment beginning Tuesday, May 17, so students should make sure to choose and enroll in their classes early to get the classes they want. Classes start the week of Saturday, August 20.

Save the Date: Fall Convocation

Fall 2022 Convocation will be held in-person on Friday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to noon in the PAC. Look for more information and the full Professional Development schedule in August - we look forward to seeing everyone back in person!

Financial Aid/Admissions and Records Redesign Update

As the semester winds down, the college and district would like to thank all of the staff, faculty, and students who have provided input into the college and districtwide discussions about redesigning Financial Aid and Admissions & Records with the goal of improving service to students in these two critical areas. Discussions about the service delivery model and structure of those offices are still ongoing, and no final decisions have been made yet. Over the summer, college and district teams will be working to address some of the immediate and urgent compliance issues outlined in the reports provided by independent consultants in these areas so that we can begin making substantive progress on improvements for students, irrespective of the outcome of the discussions about structure moving forward.

New Organics Bins on Campus!

Check out our new waste bins on campus that now include a bin for organic (compost) waste in addition to recycling and landfill! Help us reduce and redirect organic waste and recycling out of the landfill.

Caring Campus Update

The Caring Campus Long-Term Planning Committee (CCLTPC) is continuing our intentional and purposeful work for student success, and we have some exciting information to share! As we wrap up the semester we would also like to thank the college for their support and efforts in institutionalizing our behavioral commitments. Each of you are an essential component in making a significant impact in the lives of our students. Thank you!

Student Survey

The CCLTPC are requesting your assistance in conducting a student survey to check in on how the college is doing at institutionalizing our behavioral commitments. Part of the Caring Campus initiative includes our Implementation, Communication, and Monitoring Plans, and this survey is a part of the monitoring plan for the college.

Our second installment of Webpage Wednesday will be held on July 13, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The calendar hold has been sent out to the Senior Leadership Team and Supervisors.

Please monitor your calendar and email for updates. As a reminder we will be:

Reviewing and updating student and employee facing webpages for accuracy and relevancy
Facilitating a training and submitting the marketing webpage form online in real time

Angie serves as the Counseling Student Personnel Assistant. She is a skilled professional who excels in her communication with students, follows up on their progress, and makes sure to connect them to campus and community referrals. Angie has a solid knowledge of our College and a heart of gold. She always goes above and beyond in her duties to ensure students get the support they need! Fantastic job Angie, and congratulations for being a Caring Campus Champion!

YES 22: D&DM Year End Show

The inception of a design education is a sacred moment when students develop design thinking and software skills they will utilize for their entire lives.

Traditionally, the D&DM Year End Show is an in-person, faculty-curated event that showcases our student’s best design work of the Spring and Fall semesters. It will be in a virtual format again this year with the addition of guest speakers and course demonstrations.

All Los Rios students, friends, family, and alumni are invited to join us on Monday, May 16th for a Virtual Year End Show.

This past school year has been a struggle for everyone and out of that struggle came opportunity. The faculty in our program have found new and effective ways to reach students that will affect our teaching for the foreseeable future. The students have learned about how they learn and most have build skills that we call “self sufficiency”. We’ve all been more innovative, more creative, and more of who we truly are.

Who would have known that a pandemic would bring any good at all!?

The premise behind our theme this year addresses the connection we maintained while apart. Students are innovating new ways of getting to know each other, and getting to know faculty members. They are working in teams and supporting each other through the technology available to us.

SCC MET Career Fair and Open House

Sacramento City College’s Mechanical Electrical Technology (MET) Program is hosting a Career Fair and Open House on Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the program is invited to attend.

Building a Supportive Campus Community

Join the FLC Equity Center for a special presentation as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, “Building an Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Supportive Campus Community,” on Thursday, May 26, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm via Zoom. Presenter Dr. Virginia Loh-Hagan, Director of the APIDA Resource Center at San Diego State University, will share lessons learned and best practices for building an APIDA-supportive campus community here at SC. Attendees will have the chance to win the children's book, Nian: The Chinese New Year Dragon, authored by Dr. Loh-Hagan.

California June Primary Election

Please note that all active registered voters in California will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the upcoming Primary and General Elections. Make sure to register or update your voter registration .

2022 Primary Election Dates:

May 9: Counties offer early voting sites - find a location.
May 23: Last day to register to vote online or by mail ahead of the Primary Election
May 24 - June 7: Same Day Voter Registration is available - voters can conditionally register and vote at a county elections office or polling location after the voter registration deadline, up to and including Election Day
May 31: Last day for county elections officials to send a registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot
Tuesday, June 7: Primary Election - polls will be open throughout the state from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, May 18 is the deadline for students to submit a refund request for Spring 2022. Students can submit a refund application through eServices.
