Greetings!

Civiltec meets the new year with an abundance of project work, a new office in California and a robust staff of world-class engineers who make it all possible. I am grateful for this opportunity to catch you up on the exciting developments that have come to fruition over the last few months.

Our staff continues to demonstrate their commitment and competency at a high level. I would like to congratulate Christy Sipos, our Marketing Manager stationed in Phoenix, on her milestone anniversary of five years with Civiltec. Christy’s work has exponentially furthered our business development goals and contributed to the firm’s great success. I also want to commend all members of our team for their impressive resilience and achievements over the last several months. You can catch up with a few members of our team in the “Staff Spotlight” section below, and read about how our staff participated in conferences and found ways to safely stay connected with the engineering community in 2020.

As members of the engineering industry, we are continuing our essential work of helping our clients provide communities with critical infrastructure and services while maintaining and growing our thriving staff. To begin the year, I was called upon to share my expertise on hydrologic modeling as a tool for flood mitigation in wildfire-prone areas in a thought piece article that was picked up by industry publications PublicCEO and Civic Business Journal. We look forward to engaging in more projects to help communities prepare for and prevent damage from post-wildfire flooding.

"I’m enjoying working on drone flight surveys. Currently, the Cemex Plant in Prescott Valley and the Boat Storage Lot Development near western Jomax Road in Phoenix are being processed using aerial photography for 3D modeling. The surveyors in Civiltec’s Prescott office are honing our drone skills together as we pursue this new field."
The City of Prescott called upon Civiltec to deliver a Drainage and Utilities Improvement Study for the City’s Public Safety Drill Grounds, which operate as training facilities for the City’s Fire and Police departments. 
The Fullerton office is the firm’s fourth branch offering a full range of services including water and wastewater engineering, public works engineering, construction management, surveying and more.
By altering the natural landscape, fires may lay the groundwork for worsened floods, debris flows and landslides come rain season, especially in foothill areas. Fortunately, proactive improvements to local infrastructure can mitigate the dangers of flooding.
