Greetings!

Civiltec meets the new year with an abundance of project work, a brand new office in Orange County and a robust staff of world-class engineers who make it all possible. I am grateful for this opportunity to catch you up on the exciting developments that have come to fruition over the last few months.

To kick off the winter season, Gretel Ochoa-Nhac became Civiltec’s newest Project Engineer upon passing her PE exam. Gretel has been with the firm for over six years, and is successfully adjusting to her new project engineering role on a wide range of public works and water-focused projects. Through her commitment to learning, growing her career and giving back through volunteer work, Gretel embodies Civiltec’s strengths and contributions to the engineering community. 

I commend all of our Civiltec employees for their commitment to professional development and dedication to keeping Civiltec on the cutting edge of our industry. In 2020, many of our staff participated in conferences and found ways to stay remotely connected with the engineering community.

In project news, we completed a Chloramination Station project for the City of La Verne and delivered a Water Master Plan Update for longstanding client, City of Brea, over the last few weeks. These projects, along with our established service area in PFAS mitigation, solidify Civiltec’s positioning at the cutting edge of water quality management and master planning.

Furthering Civiltec’s reputation as a driver of innovation and thought leadership, Civiltec Vice President Chris Duzsa recently shared his expertise on hydrologic modeling as a tool for flood mitigation in wildfire-prone areas. The article was picked up by industry publications PublicCEO and Civic Business Journal. We look forward to engaging in more projects to help communities prepare for and prevent damage from post-wildfire flooding. 

As members of the engineering industry, we are continuing our essential work of helping our clients provide communities with critical infrastructure and services while maintaining and growing our thriving staff. Thank you for supporting us along the way.

The Fullerton office is the firm’s fourth branch offering a full range of services including water and wastewater engineering, public works engineering, construction management, surveying and more.
In an effort to improve local water quality management, the City of La Verne is working with Civiltec for the design and construction management of a Chloramination Trim Station at the City’s Wheeler Reservoir site. 
By altering the natural landscape, fires may lay the groundwork for worsened floods, debris flows and landslides come rain season, especially in foothill areas. Fortunately, proactive improvements to local infrastructure can mitigate the dangers of flooding.
The City of Brea has seen a broad increase in development and economic activity over the last two decades, raising the need for an updated Water Master Plan to address and accommodate future growth and demand on the CIty’s water system.
