J17 Ministries
in collaboration with various
ministries in Tucson and beyond
18 June 2019

Tucson makes a lot of top 10 lists, and most of them are bad! Which simply means that Tucson is a phenomenal place for God to show up. As more and more attention is being paid to answering Jesus' own John 17 prayer, how about these top 5 Praise the Lord's?
  • Starting July 7, approximately 300 children will participate in our annual citywide International Kids Camp. To our knowledge, it's the largest outreach for refugee children in the nation.
  • Care Portal pairs the needs of children in the foster care system with the resources of the Church. It's in 21 states and over 100 counties... and the Church of Pima County is #1 for responding to these needs and opportunities.
  • Tucson was the home base for Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. In response... Tucson started the third Crisis Pregnancy Center in the country, and through multiple ministries is now changing the landscape in restoration, redemption, prevention, and reconciliation.
  • Over 80% of the public schools in Tucson have a church who has come alongside to say, "What are your needs and how can we help?" If there are five cities in the nation with a higher percentage, I'd love to hear about them.
  • And we lead the nation in non-profits per capita. The positive side of that statistic is that Tucsonans care.

There are many more God stories breaking out, because we serve a praiseworthy God. Stay tuned for more great news!

Rev. Dr. Bryan Burton, Affiliate Professor
"Despite everyone’s resistance to labels in the current cultural climate, I categorically state that I am committed to an evangelical, ecumenical, and orthodox expression of the Christian Faith… Without hesitation, the next question posed to me is 'What does that mean?'"
