Dear Falcons,

There may be some confusion about our new return to campus dates. We want to provide a little clarity.

The College revised its return to campus date from Monday, January 24 to Monday, March 7 to reduce the number of students and employees on campus to combat the Omicron variant.

In-Person Lecture and Lab Classes on January 24

As for the original date of return on Monday, January 24, some lecture and lab classes may return to campus as scheduled. If your lab or lecture class plans to meet on January 24, your instructor will contact you.

You are required to follow all COVID-19 protocols, including proof of vaccination or an approved exemption, masks in all in-door settings, etc. Be sure to follow these 5 Steps before you arrive on campus.

Please also review the Student Return to Campus plan for more details.

Boosters and Testing

While booster shots are currently not required, we encourage you to take additional steps to protect yourself with a booster shot. If you have received a booster shot, please submit your booster card through the Optimum HQ portal (uploading instruction). If you would like a booster, the Student Health Center offers free Moderna booster shots and vaccination, by appointment only.

In the coming weeks, weekly testing will be required for all staff and students who:

  • Are not vaccinated
  • Have an approved exemption
  • Are fully vaccinated, but haven’t received a booster

Weekly testing will be optional for staff and students who are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot.

Please be advised, results from home testing kits will not be accepted. Testing should be conducted by an official health care provider.

We are in the process of securing a new testing vendor and will have more details to share in a few weeks. In the meantime, testing will not be required until our program is set up on campus. If you are already submitting to regular testing because of an exemption, weekly testing can be done off-campus or at the Student Health Center until the new vendor is secured.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,
Cerritos College
