Dear AltaMed Team,
Last night, the County of Los Angeles issued a "Safer At Home" order and the State of California issued a “Shelter in Place" mandate, both requiring specific actions, including the closing of non-essential businesses in order to stem or slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). For the purpose of keeping you up-to-date with the facts, and to ensure the safety of our employees, patients and participants, we wanted to provide you with the following important information.
We want to clarify that these orders do NOT apply to health care operations and support services. As an “essential service,” our organization’s health care operations are permitted to continue. This refers to employees who support patient-facing staff, including those in our corporate offices.
AltaMed’s employees are indeed essential, and are encouraged to come to work during this nation-wide emergency; our communities have never needed AltaMed’s services more, and the County of Los Angeles and State of California orders recognize the critical importance of AltaMed’s health care services by permitting us to continue operations.
We want to acknowledge and thank those employees directly caring for patients and participants in our clinics and PACE centers. We will continue to provide you with the resources you need to protect yourself while serving them. For those employees supporting our clinics and PACE center operations, including at our corporate offices, we strongly encourage you to continue to be available and responsive to the needs of our front-line employees. All of our departments are important and our support teams are critical at this time to ensure we are able to provide care.
We will continue to provide you with a safe work environment and keep you informed of this evolving situation. We expect some of you will have questions about your individual situation, including your ability to work. To that end, we direct you to review our
FAQs
, which will be updated as things change, and to speak with your supervisor. These FAQs and the
Cell Phone Allowance Guidelines
are also located on Town Square, under Infection Control/CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 Employee FAQs. Your supervisor is prepared to answer your questions, and is receiving guidance from their manager and Human Resources.
Sincerely,
