Announcing the Proposed
Five Year Strategic Plan
In June of 2017, the school board approved the process to conduct a comprehensive strategic plan. Over the course of the last ten months, the district engaged in a transparent and collaborative process to gather feedback and data from students, parents, staff, and community members.

The planning team gathered, reviewed, and used the feedback to identify priorities and goals to align the District’s work with community needs and expectations. As a result, a guiding vision was developed to support five core goals. Each of the five goals includes strategies defined by actions, responsibilities, and timelines to ensure the district focuses on making progress and successfully achieving the goals. The vision and five core goals are:

Clarinda Community School District is a leader in education by fostering
high standards and expectations through rigorous academics, meaningful learning opportunities, and engaging student activities.

Core Goals
Student Achievement
Facilities & Finance
School Culture
Staff Engagement
Community & State Partnerships

All planning documents and materials are available at any district office, Lied Public Library, and on the district website . Please take a moment to review the proposed plan that will be used to guide the district and community in making our school the leader in education. Read the final proposal here.

The district will provide free meals to children during the summer at the Clarinda Middle School Cafeteria beginning June 1st. Meals are available Monday-Friday from 11:30-12:30.

If you would like to volunteer or donate to the Summer Meal Program or have any questions, please contact Joyce Johansen, Food Service Director at 712-542-5167 for more information.
iPads for all High School Students this Fall
At the start of the 2018-2019 school year, each high school student (9th-12th grade) will be issued an iPad to enhance their learning experience. In 2019-2020, K-4 students will have access to an iPad at school. Students in 5th-12th grade will be allowed to take the devices home during the school year.

The district technology committee has been meeting since the fall of 2016 to review and plan for technology in learning and instruction. As a result of the planning process based on the district’s technology vision: “Every student K-12 will have access to a device during the school day to enhance learning and differentiated instruction.” The goal is “To allow students to think critically, collaborate, communicate, and create.”

The district will be hosting student and parent forums as we implement 1:1 technology at the high school in the fall. This initiative is not an increase to the district budget and repurposes existing funds to support the plan. Please click here to view the comprehensive technology plan.
