Positive Behavior Interventions Support (PBIS)
Elementary and middle school staff have been trained to implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as a uniform approach to managing student discipline and behaviors.

PBIS is a model of support where teachers, staff, and community members are trained to define, teach, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors. This program differs from other behavior management programs by focusing on teaching students positive behaviors before negative behaviors happen. We look forward to your support as we work together to improve the climate and culture of our schools! #cardinalpride
NWEA Map Testing
To monitor and support each students academic growth the district is implementing Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) as a district assessment for literacy, math, and science to students in grades K-12.

This assessment will provide guidance to make changes in curriculum and instruction to support each students learning needs. Students will be assessed three times during the year (fall, winter, spring) to benchmark and monitor student progress.
Security Planning and Preparation
A critical ingredient in school safety is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by school and district administration and staff. Historically, schools have taken this scenario-based approach to respond to hazards and threats.

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based not on individual scenarios but on the response to any given situation. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - there are four specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive." Execution of the action is performed by active participants, including students, staff, teachers and first responders.

For additional information about SRP, please click here.
