CLEAR SKIES AHEAD?

After weeks of uncertainty and conflicting information, we're finally hearing good news about the safety of our tenants' homes, and for our whole community.

As we write this on Friday night, the South Coast Air Quality Management District continues to report improving air quality for our community.

Just as importantly, last week's City Council meeting heard a presentation from the Pasadena Public Health Department which confirmed that there are NO elevated levels of VOCs or air toxic metals such as lead or arsenic (page 5). The same presentation recommended that simple cleaning methods are effective at removing contaminants (page 9).

Naturally, there are more questions still to be answered by experienced professionals, and we will keep you informed as we hear more.

OPPOSE LA COUNTY MORATORIUM

On Tuesday February 18th, the LA County Board of Supervisors will hear a motion by Supervisor Lindsey Horvath for an eviction moratorium across the entire county. This would permit tenants to have an affirmative defense against evictions for an entire year based on their "attestation" that they were impacted by the wildfires.

If you think this sounds like the lengthy and unreasonable COVID moratoriums, you're right.

You can make your voice heard by writing to ALL the Supervisors of LA County before Tuesday to ask them to Oppose Agenda Item 9.

Tell them that we are not able to subsidize rents yet again for the whole county if the government won't step in to help genuinely vulnerable tenants.

MOVING FORWARD TOWARDS 2026

Since Measure H passed, we've been working to protect our businesses and explain how we contribute to the City of Pasadena.

In recent weeks we've had productive conversations with several local and state-level politicians about how Pasadena's broken management of rental housing policy can be reformed to work for the whole community, rather than furthering the interests of a small number of unelected and unaccountable activists.

We look forward to telling you more about our 2026 ballot measure in the near future.

MAYOR GORDO'S "STATE OF THE CITY"

Please join many Pasadena Housing Providers on Wednesday, February 19th at the Mayor's "State of the City" address at the Elks Lodge.

This is a great opportunity for housing providers to meet the mayor, council members and city staff in person and discuss the challenging issues we face together.

Hope to see you there!

Thank you,
