Campus News
As students returned to campus for the spring semester, Mother Nature bestowed vast amounts of snow and ice on the Midwest, and our facilities crew worked tirelessly to clear it all several times these past two weeks. A blast of subzero temperatures settled in as well, and many essential personnel went above and beyond to keep students fed, safe, and comfortable despite what was occurring outside. The dedication of these Clarke employees is a trademark of our community, and I’m grateful to be a member of it!
With a new semester begins a new calendar of activities, and I’d like to highlight just one of the many that will be occurring soon. The Clarke community recognizes a milestone, as this spring marks 40 years since the Clarke Fire. Professor Emeritus Norm Freund will give a lecture at 7 p.m. on February 7, focusing on his lived experience of the destruction and ultimate rebirth of our campus that began on that fateful day in 1984. A recording of the lecture will be made available for all to enjoy. Please check out our Events Calendar to be in-the-know about additional upcoming activities and events.
Strategic Plan Update
Our Strategic Plan committee continues working diligently on multiple facets of implementation, and that includes finalizing key performance indicators that will guide the assessment of the work we are doing.
In addition, on February 8 and 9, we will welcome the Board of Trustees to campus for two days of meetings, which will delve into topics such as our Enrollment and Budget outlook, updates to the Student Success Center, and our upcoming capital campaign. Each of these initiatives is grounded in and reinforces our strategic plan. I look forward to sharing a report from the Board Meetings in our upcoming Town Hall gatherings.
