Distributing Supplemental Food For Adults, Children, & Especially Seniors, Who Lack An Adequate Supply

October is National Fire Prevention Month

FREE SMOKE ALARMS!

The month-long campaign aims to educate people about the risks of fires and how to take proactive steps to protect themselves, their families, and their properties.

More than 30 local families have already signed up to receive free smoke alarms from our local Volunteer Fire Departments and the American Red Cross, sponsored by Clarksville Presbyterian and Jamieson Memorial Methodist Churches. During the month of October, the American Red Cross will provide free smoke alarms to families living in Clarksville, Buffalo Junction, Nelson, Boydton, Skipwith, and Red Oak. The alarms will be installed by members of the Clarksville, Boydton, and Bacon District (Red Oak) Fire Departments. To apply for alarms, residents may register during October at the Clarksville Community Center, 103 Woodland Drive, Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9:00 am-noon, when the Food Pantry is open. After registration, a member of the local fire department will contact the resident to arrange installation of the alarms. Anyone with questions may call Clarksville Presbyterian, 434-374-8344, and leave a message to receive a return call.

Community Garden Update for October

We’ve been hard at work planting fall crops and preparing the garden for the upcoming year. Our team has truly outdone themselves, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication. The volunteers generously give their time to support those in need within our community. Together, we not only work hard but also have fun and learn from every experience.

"We’re always welcoming new faces—come join us!"

Volunteer Highlight

Clarksville Presbyterian Volunteers

On October 18the, Clarksville Presbyterian Church had a Day of Faithful Service that involved 64 members of the CPC family in 9 different projects in our community. We'll feature three of these projects each day this week. Take a look at what they were doing at the Clarksville Community Center:

One team of seven distributed food at the

Clarksville Virginia Food Pantry, The children children were the "Compliment Crew", handing out cookies, cuteness, and compliments, and they manned a booth for families to register for free smoke alarms from the Volunteer Fire Department and American Red Cross! o help to accomplish the mission of the Clarksville Food Pantry.

Thank You Zeke!

Sometimes angels stop by the Food Pantry, and today our special benefactor, "Zeke", brought in 268 pounds of non-perishable food items which went straight onto the Pantry shelves! "Zeke" is not this man's real name, and none of us know him, but for several years he has anonymously and frequently made these large donations. He has told us that this is his form of recreation -- to fill basket after basket of groceries he purchases at Food Lion and deliver the bounty to us. THANK YOU, Zeke, whoever you are!
