A Quarter Century and Counting

It’s on! After a successful summer program, the school year has started off strong. We are winding down our 25th anniversary year, have significantly expanded our housing services, and every day we affirm that we are not just a model high school program but a youth and young adult-serving organization.

It’s exciting to start the year with new academic opportunities and resources. We’re offering a Media Arts Portfolio class, continuing STEAM collaborations with Treasure Island Sailing Center, and looking forward to student-led events in Health Sciences and Language Arts.

Co-Executive Director Dr. Teri Delane welcomed students with warm words of gratitude and encouragement.

Hi everybody, welcome back! This is going to be an exciting year as we continue to practice life-changing lessons. Remember that what you do today impacts your future. We are all here for you… to guide you, listen to you, and, most importantly, believe in you and all of your strengths. I congratulate you for deciding to be a part of our community: for that we are extremely grateful.

You're Invited!

Join us for a festive evening of drinks and hors d'oeuvres. We’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges as we celebrate a quarter century of youth empowerment, community, and radical love.

NEW: LLA Transitions

Last year, graduating dorm residents asked, “What’s going to happen to us after graduation?” Our answer was, “We got you!”

We are proud to announce the launch of LLA Transitions, our new alumni housing on Treasure Island. With the generosity of many of you, we’ve renovated, furnished and moved into three units just blocks from our campus. LLA Transitions provides a supportive community and ongoing academic and employment support. It’s a pathway to stable, affordable housing, where students transition from no-cost dorm living, to subsidized housing, to full independent living as young adults. Special thanks to Tipping Point Community and Treasure Island Development Authority for their generous support in making this special initiative possible.

It was a Sensational Summer

The 2023 Summer Employment Program was a big success. We welcomed 48 youth from throughout the Bay Area–both LLA students and newcomers. On-campus programs included Bike Mechanics, Arts and Murals, Building Maintenance, Culinary, Gardening, and Financial Literacy.

We had exciting off-campus placements with Treasure Island Sailing Center, Aquarium of the Bay, Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, United Playaz, SF Boys’ and Girls’ Club, and Spotlight on the Arts. The Summer Employment Program grows stronger every year, and we're already excited for 2024!
