Dear Class of 2020 Parents and Students:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Administrators, Faculty and Staff, we extend heartfelt “Congratulations" to all of our graduates!
As we approach the June 23rd Individualized Graduation Ceremony, we share with you the guidelines for public health and safety of the Illinois Department of Health and the Illinois State Board of Education for our ceremony.
Individualized Graduation Ceremony at School - What to Expect:
Graduates will arrive at school at prearranged times to walk across the stage in their cap and gown, receive their diploma folder and alumni pin, and have a professional photo taken. Since our discussions with you in April and follow up survey, we have been thinking creatively about how to make this approved option as meaningful as possible, given the limitations. We are organizing the day in such a way that will allow parents to be present as the graduate walks across the stage.
This involves more logistical challenges so we need everyone's support to make this work. Each graduate may be accompanied by two adult guests. The graduates and their guests (limited to 2) must wear a mask/face covering. No other family members or guests will be allowed in the building. We will be live streaming the graduation live on YouTube so additional family members may share in this special
occasion. (Scroll down for the link and additional details)
All efforts must be made to ensure social distancing and prevent mass gatherings of people. To ensure that we practice social distancing, each homeroom will have an assigned time to arrive at Guerin Prep for their Individualized Graduation Ceremony.
Schedule by Homerooms:
- 08:45 am Belmont Parking Lot open for graduates in Mr. Sakosky's Homeroom
- 10:00 am Belmont Parking Lot open for graduates in Mr. Fontanetta's Homeroom
- 10:45 am Belmont Parking Lot open for graduates in Ms. Kniebusch's Homeroom
Linked in the red button below is a more detailed description of the flow of the ceremony, along with a Q&A section.
Please download and read
it to understand the directions given to you to ensure a smoothly flowing ceremony. There will also be plenty of staff on hand to guide you if you are uncertain. If you have any major concerns, you may reply to this email and a staff member will assist you.
During these unprecedented times, we want our graduates and their guests to have a meaningful celebration of this significant milestone. We pause to congratulate all of you in the Class of 2020, a class which personifies the Guerin Prep vision of complete student development. So many of these students have responded by being leaders in academics, fine arts, athletics and service.
We thank all of you who have responded to the call to foster and promote a community of compassionate teachers, engaged parents, and enthusiastic learners.
In Providence,
Tom Bednar, President
