Greetings from the RBC!
As we close the 2019-20 academic year, in a most unfamiliar fashion, we take a moment to reflect on the year that was. Our annual lecture series “Water Worldwide” was a dynamic series that featured members of our esteemed HU faculty as well as guests from area institutions, sharing their expertise on the myriad ways water impacts all that we do, from politics, to climate, to engineering, to spirituality. We hosted the

HBCU Symposium on Study Abroad
with representatives from over 20 HBCUs and partner organizations who came together to further discuss how to strengthen study abroad at our institutions. We were thrilled to partner with the College of Arts and Sciences to provide passports to 120 HU students who had never had one before. We also welcomed delegations from Latin America, Angola, Afghanistan, and China, among others and partnered with the Confucius Institute-US Center to host renowned Chinese musician, designer & educator Wang Peng. We also relaunched the Patricia Roberts Harris Fellowship Program after a 12-year hiatus and selected six phenomenal HU students for this year’s fellowship cohort.
It was a fantastic fall semester and the spring semester was off to a great start when our world changed. We had some truly special events planned, and while we had to cancel them for now, we look forward to hosting them once we all return to campus. In the meantime, we will spend the summer working to stay connected with you and planning even better programs and activities to bring the world to you this fall, when hopefully, we meet again.
Until then, stay safe & stay healthy!
