Dear SMCHS Seniors and Families,

As we enter the final month of the school year, we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2023's hard work and all they have accomplished at SMCHS. Guided by our charism of Caritas Christi, these young men and women have continued to grow as people of faith, skilled lifelong learners, healthy individuals and involved citizens of our world. We are thrilled to recognize our seniors as we uphold our Eagle traditions!

GRADUATION PRACTICE & CAP/GOWN DISTRIBUTION

All seniors must attend a mandatory graduation practice from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the SMCHS lunch shelter. You will receive your caps and gowns at this practice. Any student absent from graduation practice cannot attend the graduation ceremony. For questions regarding attendance, please reach out to the Activities Office. Caps and gowns are issued only to those students who have met all academic requirements, are in good standing with the Dean's Office and are cleared of any financial obligations with the Business Office. Caps, gowns and tassels are yours to keep and do not need to be returned.

BACCALAUREATE MASS

The celebration of graduation from a Catholic high school is most specifically centered on Christ, and the Baccalaureate ceremony, religious in nature, finds its highest expression in union with Our Lord in the Mass. At this Mass, we come together as a community to celebrate and pray for our graduates as they continue their journey.

Please join us to celebrate Baccalaureate Mass at 5 p.m. June 1, 2023 at San Francisco Solano Catholic Church. Each graduating senior, in good standing, will receive two tickets to the Baccalaureate Mass. Graduates do not need a ticket. Seniors are to report to the SMCHS lunch shelter by 4:30 p.m. wearing their graduation gown.

ATTIRE:

Dress code for ladies – dresses or pantsuits, dress shoes, and your graduation gown (no cap, no cords).

GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Families often use graduation announcements to “announce” their student’s upcoming graduation. It is suggested that they be mailed to family and friends three weeks before graduation. If your student has not picked up their announcements, they may pick them up after school in the ASB room located in the Caritas Christi Center. Questions about announcements can be emailed to jack.nicholson@jostens.com.

*Please note that a graduation announcement is not a valid ticket for admission to graduation.

GRAD NIGHT

Grad Night for the Class of 2023 will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023. Students can expect a jam-packed and exciting night of fun, with a portion of the night taking place at Disney California Adventure!

Grad Night will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. - Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 6 a.m. Students attending Grad Night need to be dropped off and picked up from SMCHS.

SENIOR TABLETS

All seniors are required to return their school-issued laptop computers to the Technology Center after their last final exam. At that time, if all annual technology fees have been paid, students have the opportunity to keep their tablet. Please note: This device cannot be used by any current or future SMCHS student as it will no longer be under warranty or include any necessary school software.

If you wish to keep any files currently stored on the tablet, you must first back up those files to OneDrive and can then access those files by logging in to Office.com from any PC until September 30, 2023. Alternatively, you can save files to a flash drive (USB) before returning the device.

How does the process work?

  • All students must bring their student ID card and tablet to the Technology Center located in the library. If you keep your device, peripheral devices such as the carrying case, power/AC adapter, styluses and other components not internal to the device will not be collected.
  • All graduating students must return their tablet to the Tech Service Center during operating hours between May 22 and May 25, 2023.
  • The Tech Service Center will restore your device to its original factory settings. By returning your device to the Tech Service Center, you agree that you have backed up all your files to your Office 365 account. SMCHS is not responsible for any data lost while restoring the device to factory settings.
  • Devices will be available for pick up by June 30 from the Tech Service Center. Please wait for an email notifying you that your device is ready to be picked up. Emails will be sent to your SM student email account and the parent/guardian emails on file.
  • The device will be returned to its factory Windows 11 settings. Users will have full administrative rights. Access to your SM Office365 accounts will be available until September 30, 2023. You can access this from any device by visiting Office.com and signing in with your SM credentials.
  • Tablets not picked up before July 14 will be donated to the school.

What if you don't want to keep your tablet?

  • Any seniors who don’t wish to keep their tablet must return it to the Tech Service Center between May 22-25, 2023. The power/AC adapter and stylus must also be returned. Student diplomas will be held if the device is not returned.

Any further questions should be directed to the Tech Center.

The end of an SMCHS student's senior year is punctuated with tradition, ceremony, and prayer as students prepare to transition to the next chapter in their lives. Thank you for your continued support. May God bless the Class of 2023 during this memorable time of their lives.
