Senior Friendsgiving is November 21

The Bishop Watterson Student Council and the Mothers' Club are teaming up to host a Friendsgiving Lunch for the senior class on Friday, November 21. This tradition has become one of the students' favorite events!

The administration is allowing the Seniors to eat in the auxiliary gym for both A and B lunch periods to celebrate and enjoy a Friendsgiving meal together.

We need lots of help with food donations and volunteers. Food donations should be dropped off by 10:00 a.m. to the front office on Friday, November 21, with dishes clearly labeled and your name included. Mothers Club is providing the main pasta dish from Berwick Manor. Please see the link below to help make Friendsgiving a success.

Caps, Gowns, Names

Bishop Watterson will provide caps and gowns for seniors based on the height and weight information we will collect from the students before Christmas break. Caps and gowns will be distributed the week of baccalaureate and graduation.

Seniors will also be confirming the spelling of their names for their diplomas during this time. Please have a conversation with your child to determine how it should read.

Senior Counseling News

1st Quarter Highlights

It’s college application season! Counselors have been working one-on-one with students and families to assist with all components of their college applications, including essays, letters of recommendation, timelines for completion through the Common App and matching their SCOIR and Common Application accounts. We have been offering drop in help sessions throughout the month of October so students can meet the early action deadlines of October 15 and November 1.

2nd Quarter Focus & Reminders

  • Don’t forget to send your ACT (www.act.org) or SAT (www.collegeboard.org) scores directly from the testing agency if they are required by your colleges. Only students and parents can send scores. Bishop Watterson does not have access to send test scores.
  • Submit college applications: November 1 and December 1 are big deadlines
  • Create college portals to track your application materials. Pro tip: Save your admission portal websites in a folder on your browser bookmark bar to easily access your admission status
  • Complete FAFSA and/or CSS Profile (if required) and submit by your college’s deadline (both went live on October 1)
  • Reminder: The Counseling Office is closed during Christmas break. If you have any January deadlines, all transcript and teacher letters must be requested by December 1 in order to be processed on time. We will process all documents before we leave for the holidays.
  • Don’t forget to thank your teacher recommenders for all their hard work and support of your applications. Make a card or share a heartfelt thank you to brighten their day!
