Summer Assignment for Current Juniors: The College Essay

To help our rising seniors gain an early start on the college application process, all students enrolled in Senior English are required to complete a summer writing assignment.

As part of this assignment, students will draft a college application essay in response to one of the Common Application prompts. This opportunity allows students to begin the reflective writing process well before application deadlines and develop a strong foundation for their college admissions materials.

Completed essays are due during the first week of school. Senior English teachers will review each student's initial draft and provide individualized feedback to support revision and improvement. This process is designed to help students strengthen their writing and prepare a polished essay for use in future college applications.

To support students as they begin this process, we are sharing this college essay tips video provided by our Guidance Department. We highly recommend watching it before diving into the writing process.

Save the Date: Senior Parent College Planning Night!

During the week of September 8th, the College and Career Counseling Team will visit Senior English classes to provide students with essential information related to graduation requirements and postsecondary planning. Topics will include the college application process, securing letters of recommendation, applying for financial aid and scholarships, completing the Common Application, and other important steps to support a successful transition after high school.

On Monday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m., BBHHS will host a Senior Parent College Planning Night to help families better understand the college search and application process. The program will highlight key timelines, expectations, and the important role parents and guardians play in supporting their students throughout this journey.

Beginning September 15, students are encouraged to schedule individual meetings with their college and career counselor for personalized guidance on college applications, career planning, financial aid, and other postsecondary opportunities.

Student Fees and Commencement Participation

Please be aware that in order for a student to be eligible to participate in commencement activities, all outstanding student fees must be paid in full prior to graduation.

Fee statements are emailed to parents on a monthly basis and are always available at payschoolscentral.com. If your student currently has an outstanding balance related to past school fees, athletic participation fees, AP exams, or other charges, we encourage you to begin making payments now to avoid a significant balance becoming due in the days leading up to graduation.

Senior Year Key Dates: The Countdown Is On!

The countdown to graduation has officially begun! Senior year is filled with exciting milestones, memorable traditions, important deadlines, and celebrations that will mark the final chapter of our students' high school experience.

Below are some of the most essential senior year events and dates for students and families to be aware of as they plan for the year ahead. While every effort is made to maintain the schedule as published, dates are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances or evolving event needs. Please use these dates as a guide for planning and awareness throughout the school year.

We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2027 throughout the year and especially during the final stretch of their senior journey. The countdown culminates with the seniors' last day of school and Senior Send-Off on May 19 at 1:00 p.m.!

Parking Pass Sales for 26-27 Still Available

The Class of 2027 still has the opportunity to purchase a personalized parking space for the 2026-2027 school year through the BBHHS PSO for $25 in the Red Lot! All proceeds from this fundraiser go directly toward supporting the Senior Class and their end-of-year events, including After Prom.

Important Notes:

To be eligible to purchase a personalized space, students must have all current school fees paid in full. No personalized space may be purchased if a balance remains.
Be a licensed driver and provide proof of insurance.
The $25 fee is for the personalized space only.
The $60 standard parking pass fee will be added to the student’s school fees in PowerSchool beginning July 1.
Parking passes will be available for pick-up in the BBHHS Main Office starting Monday, August 4th
Students must also complete the required attachments below to be eligible to purchase a space.

Rising Senior Meningitis Vaccination Requirement Notice

Please note that students entering the 12th grade are required by law to receive their second Meningitis vaccination before the first day of school during their senior year. An annual notification is made to ensure families have plenty of time to ensure their child has received the required vaccination before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

If your child has already received the second dose, you may begin submitting your child's updated immunization record OR Immunication Exemption to our Health Care Coordinator, Kim DiRocco.
