Although it was a rainy day, the golf outing was a big success! Thank you to the businesses and investors who answered the call when the students solicited sponsorships.

Touring the Library

Carl Walworth with the Mattoon Public toured the students around the library and discussed ways they are changing to serve the public. They are working with the schools and added programming to continue to be a vital part of the community. They are have resources that help bring the history of Mattoon alive in their displays.
Golf Outing Success

This year's golf outing netted more than $11,000, surpassing their goal by more than $3,000. Keegan Gowin and Jordan Socarras secured the most sponsors and money, so they won Casual Fridays for the rest of the semester. Gillian Oetting and Aly Easton sold the most raffle tickets.
Learning About Accounting

Joyce Madigan, a partner with Gilbert, Metzger and Madigan, discussed the accounting profession and the services they provide. Accountants advise small business owners on: understanding their financial statements and new tax laws, estate planning and succession planning. They also provide audit services for nonprofits.
ClassE Alum Isaac Dallas, co-founder of Xspace, shared with the class his journey to create his new business and securing seed money. Xspace takes and stores product images to be used in e-commerce. We discussed proof of concept, venture capital, other sources of funding, patents, and the challenges you will face, but also how to continue to network and build a team of advisors to help with what you may not know.
Investor Spotlight - Cooper-Bumpus Insurance Agency

Cooper-Bumpus Insurance Agency was founded back in 1980 by David Cooper. Lori Bumpus would later join the company in 1987 and then purchased the company on January 1, 2005. The Cooper-Bumpus Insurance Agency works hard to provide the best quality insurance possible for their customers. They provide: auto, home, life, health, business and annuity products, and much more! Maintaining a healthy relationship with customers is one of their main focuses.
