FAMILY FRIENDLY Workshop

Making Pet Portraits

November 12, 10am-12:30pm

Have you ever wanted to make a portrait of your pet? We have a workshop for you!


$40 covers two family members, plus materials and firing of one piece each. Participants will receive guided instruction We encourage participants to have an idea, sketch, or goal in mind for the workshop. Afterwards, participants will be able to choose one (1) piece each to glaze and fire free of charge; with a choice of firing more objects for an additional small fee of $5 per object.


For ages 3+ and up. This workshop is geared towards beginners and families.

Prior ceramics experience is NOT required.

- All materials will be provided.

- Please wear comfortable clothing, and close toed shoes

- Limited Seats Available!

HOW TO BUILD A

CERAMIC SHELF

In this workshop participants will receive guided instruction for creating a ceramic wall shelf using handbuilding techniques. The end result will be a textured and decorative piece that can be displayed at home. We encourage participants to have an idea, sketch, or goal in mind for the workshop.


- For ages 18+ and up.

About Nick Gomez


Nick Gomez is a woodwind player who performs with Poncho Sanchez, Breakestra, Vatomico, and others.


Nick has been instrumental in the organization of jazz performances at the Garcia Center. Nick’s small jazz groups can be heard at venues throughout Southern California and feature a variety of incredible local talents.


As an adjunct professor at San Bernadino college, Nick applies his professional experience to teaching History of Jazz, History of Rock & Roll, Jazz Improvisation, and Applied Woodwinds.

Josh Nelson


Born and raised in Southern California pianist-composer-bandleader Josh Nelson has performed with some of the most respected names in jazz. He taught jazz for four years at Soka University and more recently at Cal State University Northridge. In 2006, Nelson was a semi-finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition.

Join us every Sunday for mid-morning yoga in the auditorium! Guided lesson to relaxation with instructor Tawnia Rivas!

SCREENPRINTING CLASS with Creatively Collected

Saturday November 19th, 10-11:30am

Free screen-printing Class, led by Creatively Collected and sponsored by Arts Connection.


In this workshop, you will go on a screen printing experience from start to finish, learning the basics of screen printing through hands on teaching. Starting from preparation and alignment of screen, to working with color and ultimately printing a T-shirt and poster board on your own!
