Day of Caring - September 12, 2019
This will be our 4th year of community volunteerism with the United Way of Central Mass. On Thursday, September 12th from 9 am to 12 pm, we will be painting
 a trellis in a project managed by the Worcester Housing Authority. Mark your calendars if you'd like to volunteer to join the LVGW Team! Email info@lvgw.org to register. 

October ESL Tutor Training - October 8-24, 2019
Tell your friends! Our next ESL tutor training will be held this October 8th- 24th, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Spread the word to anyone interested in joining us as a volunteer!

Scrabble Scrimmage Tournament - May 2, 2020
Our 19th Annual Scrabble Scrimmage Tournament will be held May 2, 2020!

Karen and Fred


Karen and her student, Fred, have been meeting since January. During Karen's training, she mentioned that she spoke some Swahili, which is one of Fred's languages. Upon their first meeting, Karen was able to converse with Fred in Swahili, and his face lit up! Right away, Karen told us, "I believe Fred is very happy, and I couldn't be happier...the match could not be better. I think he was relieved that I actually knew a little bit [of Swahili] and..." For Students
Improving our English language skills!

Registration:  September 3 through September 11, from 9 am to 2 pm with extended hours (9 am to 6 pm on Wednesdays). Closed on Sunday.

Fall Term: September 23 - November 23, 2019
Courses are available at survival, beginner, and intermediate levels with a variety of topics. Special courses include English for Work, Helping Your Schoolchild, and Book Club!
August 5 - December 16
Come practice English on the computer using Rosetta Stone! Every Monday, the Worcester Public Library computer lab will be open to students. See LVGW main office for details. 

Anyone interested in applying to have a tutor for English or reading and writing can come to our main office in the Worcester Public Library to fill out an application.

USA Learns  is a free website with video lessons and activities geared toward beginner and intermediate English learners with a focus on U.S. citizenship. Must have an email address to create an account.

Learning Upgrade is a free adult literacy app provided by XPRIZE and the LVGW Team with access code 2299. Learn where and when you like and  download the app today with these instructions.
