BELTSVILLE, MD — The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges and financial hardships for the city of Bethlehem and Bethlehem University. The operational budget for the University is running at a deficit due to the loss of income of the families of Bethlehem University.
This past spring Bethlehem University responded to the pandemic with the decision to hold classes virtually. The swift change to online learning enabled Bethlehem University to remain open and continue providing quality education to students in the Holy Land.
Since the spring, Bethlehem University has worked with the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Council of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Health to establish new health and safety protocols and arrangements for the Fall 2020 academic semester. The first day of classes for the Fall semester will begin Monday, August 31, 2020. Classes will be held virtually with the exception of courses that require in-person laboratories or training which will be conducted on campus with the new safety protocols.
Though times have been challenging, Bethlehem University will be starting the year off with hope. This year the University has accepted the largest number of new students in its history - 964. The University is standing strong amidst these difficult times, but they need your help to continue doing so!
Since March, Bethlehem University Foundation has been collecting donations for Coronavirus Relief. Through your generosity, the Foundation has granted $76,000 to the University. The Foundation will continue to raise money for the Annual Fund for Coronavirus Relief through August 31, 2020.
As this new school year begins and the Foundation's fiscal year comes to an end on August 31, 2020, please support the needs of the faculty and students of Bethlehem University in the Holy Land.
