CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS

Ms. Juliana’s 7th grade Science Project

The objective of the students’ projects was to demonstrate their understanding of chemical reactions. This was a transfer task where students applied what they’ve learned about chemical reactions in cooking to real-world case studies.

The students worked on different case studies from around the world, including:

  • The Statue of Liberty in New York
  • The Eiffel Tower in Paris
  • Palacio Nacional in Santo Domingo
  • The Taj Mahal in India
  • The Coral Triangle in the Philippines
  • Ocean acidification and its impact on oysters in the Pacific Ocean
  • The color change in pennies
  • Wildfires in Lynwood, MA

For their projects, students created posters to present the problem associated with their case study, modeled the chemical reactions involved, they also explained how the properties of matter changed during the chemical reactions and discussed the positive or negative impacts these changes had on their specific case study, and conducted experiments to illustrate the chemical reactions happening in each case.

SCHOOL SPIRIT & CREATIVITY

Holiday Door Decorating Contest

School Spirit is very important at the Muñiz Academy and one of the traditions is our Door Decorating for the Holiday Season. As happens every year, there was huge competition between the grades to see who would have the most original and creative Holiday door.

9th grade

Ms. Laura - Winter Wonderland

10th grade

Ms. Lucia - Santa Claus, down the chimney

Much holiday cheer and friendly rivalry was shared by all. The winners will share a wonderful catered dinner in early January.

FROM THE STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE

Highest % of Students on Honor Roll.

Muñiz Academy has established a number of traditions. One is that at the end of each quarter, the students on the Honor Roll are celebrated at an ice cream party. It is a yummy, fun time and this quarter we had the highest number of students ever on the honor roll – 133 or 32% of the student body. Hearty congratulations to all!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Best wishes for happy holidays to all the friends of the Margarita Muñiz Academy. We are most grateful to you for all the care and support which you have shown the school.
