Lowry building as of 2017
Lowry building as of 2017
Last month we received word that Clay Squared and Potek Glass won our bid on a foreclosed property in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. Clay Squared has been trying to buy a building for our business for almost 16 years. After over a dozen tries at other properties this one appears to be the winner. We won the Requests for Proposals put out by Community Planning & Economic Development or CPED to have the exclusive rights to develop the building. Then we were approved by the the Minneapolis City Council to proceed. By the end of 2017 we expect to get all of the environmental Phase 2 process completed and if any issues come up then we have to address them. Once that and Hennepin county and the City of Minneapolis agree to the final terms later this fall/winter we will own the property outright with our friends and partners Malcolm Potek and Kara Van Wynk of Potek Glass. We are also partnering with the John and Jennifer of the California Building Company as a fee developer to build out the space for us to our needs.

The building is 12,000 sq. ft. of space with a three bedroom apartment too. Potek Glass and Clay Squared will take 3500 sq. ft. each and rent out the remaining space to 1-3 art business. We expect once we own the property it will take around 6 months to build out the space to be ready to move into it. We are expecting to be able to move sometime summer to fall of 2018.
We will keep you updated on this next big adventure!
