Stars and Hex
Stars and Hex
The first of the year started with a bang for Clay Squared. Josh and Michael are producing over 600 sq. ft of tiles for three floors, This is Josh's second largest project since the restoration of the MN State Capitol in 1995. The process includes hand rolling out 675 individual 8" x 8" tiles for the first floor, in Coco Moon. The second floor is a very cool star and hex pattern in Blueberry and Coco Moon (see photo at right). The third floor is a small entryway of mixed mosaics in Silver
The entire process will take 8 - 12 weeks to roll out, dry, glaze, and fire. For sure Michael and I are going to be ripped by the end of this project. We might have to create a Clay Squared calendar: "The Men of Clay Squared."  Keep your eyes peeled!

Handmade Tile Project of the Month
Blueberry Subway Nirvana Bathroom
Blueberry Subway Nirvana Bathroom
Deep color creates a very soothing atmosphere. This Blueberry subway shower from our historic Mid-Century tile series we represent, with accents of our  handmade 2" tiles en pointe, showcase how rich a space can be. This small bathroom was well thought out, adding to the functional needs of the shower with the incorporation of a niche and safety grab bar. The floor is made up of 2" unglazed porcelain hex tiles with random accents of blue throughout the space. Small accents can turn the ordinary into extraordinary!
