Fire Winged Dragon Teapot
1st coat of glaze
1st coat of glaze
We always know the first day of Spring because it is also Layl's birthday! Layl is gearing up for a full season of art fairs that start up in May.  She is creating many new teapots on a variety of themes for this year's shows. A lot of flying fish and sea dragons have also popped out.
Michael and Josh just finished up making our largest tile project in 20 years with the completion of three floor projects for a house remodel of 600 sq. ft. of tile. It is always a learning experience to do large project with the twists and turns that clay, glazes and the kilns can create. We are looking forward to seeing the final installed project. The architects from Rehkamp Larson Architects believe the home remodeling project will be completed by late summer or early fall. We are hoping to get in and take photos to share with everyone at that time. Stay tuned!

Mid-Century Modern Aquila Pattern Kitchen
Mid-Century Modern Aquila Pattern Kitchen
Mid-Century Modern Aquila Pattern Kitchen

Mid-Century Modern design has two standard design signatures: monochromatic and "multi-mix" (patterns or colors) usually in rich, bold colors. The homeowners used our Aquila pattern to create a dynamic, muiltimix design for their kitchen. With no focal point, it allows the cook, and dinner guests, lots of prolific visuals to enjoy. The homeowners knew they would have lots of accessories in daily use (coffee makers, toaster ovens, spices and cookbooks) and needed a look that allowed them to see the tiles from anywhere in the kitchen.
The Aquila design pattern is made up of four sizes of tiles:  4x4", 2x4", 2x6" and 1x1" as well as a 4x4" accent tile. Colors chosen:   Wasabi, Copper Patina, and  Andromeda Cosmic Clouds.
