Clayton County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) Project Updates | |
Project Details: A new 103,000 sq. ft. three-story Clayton County Administration Building will be located on an 18-acre parcel of land on Old Poston Road in Jonesboro. The facility will be home to several county departments including the Board of Commissioners, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Communications. | |
Update: The Technical Review of building plans is ongoing and is currently with the Transportation and Development team. A phased in approach to the overall site project has been adopted that will allow the District 3 pocket park grant funding be used by the deadline of December 2025. The pocket park Solicitation to Bid packet completion is planned for the end of January. In addition, a meeting to select facility furniture is expected to be held in January 2025.

Project Details: The interior renovations of the Shelnutt Senior Center will include bathroom upgrades, interior lighting replacement, installation of a new washer and dryer, interior wall and ceiling finishes, including wall patching and painting. A new canopy entrance with two new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps for accessibility will round out the exterior renovations. | |
Update: RGC Construction LLC was awarded the bid to construct a new front canopy. The total bid amount is $363,420. A vendor kickoff meeting is scheduled for January 2025. | |

Project Details: The Fleet Maintenance Expansion Project will revitalize the existing facility to include an upgrade to its electrical system, new HVAC, vehicle lifts, flooring, windows, and doors. Project Details: The new Winter Weather Supply and Storage Building will be located behind the Clayton County Jail on Post Way in Jonesboro. The facility will be used to store approximately 14 days of cold weather material such as salt, sand, and gravel. In addition, it will serve as storage for a salt brine maker and brine solution and house snowplows and spreaders. | |

Project Details: Tennis courts at the International Park Tennis Center, Gerald Matthews Tennis Complex, Independence Park, and Flat Shoals Park will be resurfaced with new fencing and landscaping. The $1.16 million project is estimated to take eight to 10 months to complete. | |

Project Details: The new Fire Station No. 9 will be located at 4181 Old Dixie Highway. The new station will replace the current facility at 4320 Old Dixie Highway in Hapeville. The new 9,994-sq. ft. station will be 2-bay and built using the new prototype design. Total cost for the project is $6 million. | |
