MSD Project Clear Reaches Milestone for New Biosolids Management Systems
The upgraded systems will result in a 70% decrease in emissions
We are pleased to announce that MSD Project Clear (MSDPC) has reached a significant milestone in our effort to modernize and upgrade wastewater treatment facilities and improve air quality in the St. Louis region. Our latest press release, which you can read in full on our website, highlights the progress we have made in MSD’s $900 million investment to upgrade the biosolids management systems at our Bissell Point and Lemay Wastewater Treatment Plants.
Key highlights from the press release include:
The new systems will replace century-old technology with more efficient, environmentally friendly processes, resulting in a 70% reduction in emissions and improved air quality.
The upgraded facilities will create 200 new jobs during construction and ongoing high-tech job opportunities upon completion. Further, the Design-Build team selected to complete the work met or exceeded all of MSD Project Clear’s diversity requirements, ensuring these jobs will reflect the diversity of our community.
By continuing to satisfy the requirements of the Clean Air Act, these new facilities will play a role in maintaining the St. Louis region's eligibility for federal transportation funding.
Construction of the cutting-edge biosolids management systems is expected to begin by the end of 2023.
