Cleaning Program to Give Your Business a Competitive Edge

MTEC is launching the new Clean it Right on-line training program on June 1, 2020, FREE for tourism, hospitality and retail businesses.

As businesses start to re-open, or open to the public, some customers will be hesitant to travel, shop and eat out during the post COVID-19 period.

The Clean it Right program has been developed with the goal to increase the safety of guests, visitors and workforce in the Tourism, Hospitality and Retail industry. This training will help people who work in the industry understand the significance of following the cleaning and disinfection procedures of their business by adjusting current practices. Clean it Right focuses on enhancing proper cleaning and disinfection or sanitizing areas specific to each type of business.

A study in 2017 by P & G Professional, the away from home division of Proctor & Gamble, revealed that nearly all consumers consider cleanliness when deciding whether or not to return to a business. "No matter how big or small the business, every experience a customer has at a hotel, restaurant, salon, day care facility or office affects their perception and inclination to come back."

According to their survey, it doesn't matter how good the service is or how wonderful the employees are, it's how clean and fresh a hotel, restaurant, salon or office is that matters most for 92 percent of consumers when deciding if they will become a repeat customer. It also stated that in fact, 9 in 10 (91%) agreed that they were more likely to have an overall negative opinion of an independent business if the public spaces (lounges, restrooms or lobbies) are not clean.

Clean it Right is not a program to teach participants how to be cleaners. It is awareness and education program that considers our current situation given COVID-19, but will also be a program that has long term benefits for business. The commitment to providing a clean and safe environment for customers and employees will give your business a competitive edge.

Who should take the training?

This training is definitely for the cleaners, but cleaners could never keep up with the scope and frequency required to have a safe and clean business. It is recommended that several staff also take the training.

Businesses that train all of their cleaning staff will receive a window decal to show the public they are committed to providing a clean and safe environment.
