Letter from CCIA
Building on the success of our oil and gas and mining cleantech challenges, we are pleased to report that our inaugural Commercial Vehicle Cleantech Challenge was also a success. We are honored to have partnered with the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) on the program. We ask our industry partners to tell us their technology gaps and CCIA and NACFE did an international call for applications, and after a competitive vetting process, nine innovative companies were invited to pitch their technologies at a private session at the Governor's Residence in Denver.

Our sponsor/judges (UPS, Schneider, Great Dane, Toyota, Kenworth, Xcel Energy, and Woodward, NREL, CALSTART, and Rocky Mountain Institute) heard pitches from companies from across the U.S. and Canada. Technologies ranged from infrastructure for BEV/FCEV vehicles, vehicle automation & connectivity, electrification of the powertrain, on-vehicle hydrogen performance and cost to driver retention and health.

Havelaar Canada took home the $5,000 check for their innovative powertrain technology that optimizes battery performance and significantly reduces charging time. Migrogrid Labs and Electriphi took second and third places respectively.

Many thanks to NACFE and all of our partners, we're looking forward to working with the sponsoring companies on expanding the program next year.

Sincerely,
Mary Austin
