Dear CCISD Families,
The Clear Creek Independent School District is monitoring the increase of COVID-19 cases, relying on local health authorities for guidance, and complying with the state laws which govern a public education system.
Public health officials continue to emphasize that face coverings are a very important strategy for slowing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting public health. Yesterday, the
Texas Education Agency issued a statement reaffirming that per the Governor’s Executive Order, “school systems cannot require students or staff to wear a mask.” Clear Creek ISD continues to adhere to the Governor’s Executive Order while also referring the community to the recommendations of public health officials, including the CDC, regarding face coverings.
I would like to take some time to share adjustments to our school opening plans based on valuable input from our community. Since vaccinations are not yet available for children under the age of 12, the district has added the following to its school opening plan.
Cafeteria
Social distancing during breakfast and lunch will be practiced in all elementary schools. The utilization of space will be maximized to achieve this goal. At this time, visitors for breakfast and lunch will not be allowed due to lack of space similar to last year.
Designated areas for social distancing during breakfast and lunch will be made available to students in intermediate and high schools.
Elementary Classrooms
A form has been added to the 2021-2022 Back to School process in Skyward Family Access for elementary parents and guardians to inform the district if they are requiring their child to wear a face covering at school. This important information will be shared with appropriate staff so that the proper use of face coverings can be monitored.
Exclusion of Positive and Symptomatic Students
The Texas Department of Health and Human Services has updated its requirements to include a mandatory exclusion of a minimum of 10 days for students who have tested positive for COVID-19 or suspected of having COVID-19. Contact tracing will remain the responsibility of local health departments and Clear Creek ISD will continue to report any known positive cases daily.
Online Learning Availability
The Clear Creek Independent School District will continue to advocate for state funding for online learning. Unfortunately, legislation to provide schools funding for remote learning did not pass in the most recent legislation session.

The Clear Creek ISD team will be hosting a live session on Clear Creek ISD’s back to school opening plans via www.ccisd.net on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 12 p.m. This recording will be available in playback as well in a summary form. Please visit this link to provide input on the topics you would like addressed.
Last spring our School Opening Committee, comprised of parents, staff members, and students, advised the district regarding our health mitigation protocols for the 2021-2022 school year. Last spring, we also stated our intention to reconvene the committee periodically. In accordance with that plan, we are reconvening the School Opening Committee next week to solicit additional input regarding our health mitigation protocols.
We look forward to seeing your children at the start of the school year.
Thank you,
Eric Williams, Ed.D.
