Clearfield Presbyterian Church to Host Free Violin and Piano Recital on August 9

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — The community is invited to enjoy an afternoon of beautiful live music on Sunday, August 9, at 3:30 p.m. as Evan Forcey, a violin performance major, and Slone Smith, a piano music education major, present a recital featuring works spanning from the early Baroque period through the 20th century.

The program will include music by beloved composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert, along with selections by other talented composers that audiences may be less familiar with. The recital offers a variety of musical styles and showcases the performers' artistry and versatility.

The performance features music that Forcey and Smith have studied throughout the summer, as well as selections they have prepared during their studies at Susquehanna University.

The recital will be held at Clearfield Presbyterian Church, 119 N. 2nd Street, in downtown Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend. Donations will be gratefully accepted to support the performers and future music ministry opportunities.

Following the recital, guests are invited to stay for a brief dessert reception to meet the performers and enjoy fellowship.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend this special afternoon of music.

The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre (CAST) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Beautiful Baby Contest. 

The contest is open to babies from birth through 36 months of age. Registration is completely free, but advance online registration is required by Friday, Aug. 14, at 6:00 p.m.

This year's contest will once again be held entirely online, making it easy for family and friends to participate from anywhere. Parents or guardians can register their child by completing the online registration and photo permission forms and uploading a photo.

Online voting begins Friday, Aug. 21, at 12:00 noon. Family members, friends, and community supporters can vote for their favorite Beautiful Baby by making online donations through each contestant's voting link. Donations by check will also be accepted by sending to CAST at PO Box 613, Clearfield, PA 16830 or dropping off at the secure drop box located at 112 E Locust Street in Downtown Clearfield. 

The Beautiful Baby Contest is a fun way to celebrate our community's youngest children while supporting the programs and mission of CAST.

CAST Presents Steve Martin's Hilarious Comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre (CAST) invites audiences to enjoy an evening of laughter with Steve Martin's acclaimed comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Performances will be held August 21–22 and August 27–29 at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on August 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre, located at 112 E. Locust Street in Downtown Clearfield.

Set in a Paris café in 1904, just before either man became famous, Picasso at the Lapin Agile imagines a hilarious meeting between the young Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. As they debate art, science, genius, love, and the future, an unforgettable cast of colorful characters joins the conversation—including one very unexpected visitor from the future. Filled with witty dialogue, clever humor, and plenty of laughs, this comedy has become a favorite with audiences around the world.

Tickets are available online at ClearfieldArts.org, at the CAST office on Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 p.m., or at the box office beginning 30 minutes before each performance.

During intermission, audience members can enjoy popcorn, candy, and other refreshments for a donation to the CAST Scholarship Fund, helping provide arts opportunities for local youth. Guests can also purchase chances to win a variety of show-themed basket raffle prizes, including tickets to future CAST events.

CAST is also excited to partner with two Downtown Clearfield businesses to enhance the Picasso at the Lapin Agile experience.

Before the show, stop by Moena Restaurant to enjoy a signature drink specially created and inspired by Picasso at the Lapin Agile. It's the perfect way to kick off your evening before heading to the theatre.

In addition, The Liddle Gallery will host a Picasso-themed Paint & Sip on Wednesday, August 12, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will create a show-inspired painting while supporting the arts in the community. Spots are limited to the first two people for each time slot of 15 minutes between 10AM and 3PM on Saturday September 5th.

Photo sessions will be for 1 outfit, two backgrounds choices, final edits will be 2-3 images delivered digitally by Google Drive within two weeks of the shoot, and will be $40 cash at the door.
