B.S. Computer Information Systems, 2005
What role do you play in the entrepreneurial ecosystem?
As a fractional Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Partner at TechCXO, I specialize in guiding startups and scaleups to swiftly bring innovative solutions to market. With extensive experience in SaaS product development and commercialization, I empower teams to execute product roadmap strategies, accelerating growth and achieving sustainable success in competitive landscapes.
What are some of your best memories of your time at Clemson?
Clemson football games were a blast when I was a student! The energy of cheering on the Tigers with friends and roommates was unbeatable. Even today, I love attending games with my husband and kids, keeping the fun traditions going. Admittedly, my memories of the Clemson computer science lab aren't as glamorous. Spending hours on projects in a pre-WiFi era wasn't exactly thrilling, but it was definitely a memorable part of my Clemson journey!
What were the key inflection points in your career after you left Clemson?
Early on, I was fortunate to have wonderful female mentors who encouraged me to embrace my skills and interests rather than conforming to a single path. In a time when product management wasn't widely recognized, their guidance helped me excel in both technical and business leadership roles. While my years spent in software development and big data science were wonderful, it was my exposure to startups that ignited my passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. Building and growing my own companies showcased my ability to drive success in the business world. Along the way, I discovered a deep-seated passion for helping new founders and scaling companies, finding immense fulfillment in empowering others. Now, as a fractional Chief Product Officer (CPO), I leverage my diverse experience to guide early-stage companies through their growth journey. This role allows me to make a meaningful impact in the startup community and empower entrepreneurs.
What are your personal and professional dreams?
Personally, my goal is to prioritize quality time with my family, enjoying beach outings and kids' sports activities. I want to support my children as they grow, fostering an environment where they feel encouraged to discover their passions. Ultimately, I hope they both find fulfilling careers that they love, just as I have.
Professionally, my goal is to continue helping startups and scaleups in their growth journey. I love contributing to their success, whether it's assisting new product launches, empowering product teams, refining go-to-market strategies, or achieving revenue milestones.
What would you recommend students do to maximize their remaining time at Clemson?
To maximize your remaining time at Clemson, I recommend slowing down and savoring the experience. While studying remains important, prioritize quality moments with friends, engage in campus activities, and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. This is an ideal time for your personal and professional growth, so seize every opportunity to explore your interests and aspirations.
What else should we know about you?
Being a woman in technology can be tough at times. I encourage young professionals to lean on (and learn from) amazing women who have paved successful career paths before us! I am a strong supporter of mentorship programs. I value the impact my first mentor had on my career, and I cherish opportunities to coach and mentor others just getting started as a way to pay it forward. Mentorship helps break down barriers, and women in business are an unstoppable force!
