We live in anxious times
A message from Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori
We live in anxious times. That is probably obvious to all of us, yet it can help enormously to name that reality. We’re anxious about immigration issues, even though the number of people entering from Mexico is radically lower than just a few years ago. The financial markets are anxious. We’re anxious about the trajectory of relations with Russia and North Korea and now Venezuela. Britain and Europe are anxious about Brexit and the EU – and whatever happens will have consequences for the United States. This diocese is anxious about episcopal transitions. Strong Writing for Church Communications
Tuesday, March 26 @ 2 p.m.

An informal, online gathering for church communicators, Tuesday Talks focuses on strong writing this month with our guest facilitator, Paul Weingarten.

Paul Weingarten is a former Chicago Tribune editor and award-winning writer. His areas of interest have been health care, the Middle East, national security, education, foreign policy, among others. He ran a staff of 150, and managed a $20 million budget. Under his direction, the Tribune won two Pulitzer Prizes. He will share with church communicators a handful of pointers to improve their writing. As always, all are welcome to attend. There is no cost.

Email Hannah Wilder with questions.

Long-Standing Rector to Retire
The Rev. Andrew Green, rector of St. Paul in the Desert, Palm Springs, will officially retire next month, due to disability. He has faithfully served the congregation for over 30 years. Recently his wife, the Rev. Susan Green, began serving at St. Paul, in a diaconal capacity. Together, their long tenure brought continuity and stability to the congregation, as they connected with the community around issues of HIV/AIDS advocacy and LGBTQ equality, public school education, and racism, among others. Father Green’s last Sunday will be April 7. St. Paul has services at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 and on Sunday, April 7 at 8 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. with a choir. Another community celebration will take place on Saturday, May 11. Thank you, good and faithful servant!
