Weekday and weekend hours offered through Nov. 7

There is still time to participate in early voting
before the Presidential Election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The Clermont County Board of Elections, 76 S. Riverside Drive, Batavia, is open these days and hours:
 
Today-Friday, Nov. 4: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 5: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 6: 1-5 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 7: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.


On Election Day, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Parks levy on ballot
The Clermont County Park District, which oversees 750 acres of park land throughout the county, and hosts 200,000 visitors a year, is a sking for a 0.5-mill, 10-year property tax levy that would cost owners of $100,000 home $17.50 a year. The Park District has had the same budget since 2005, approximately $587,000, and has lost state funding over the years. November is National Adoption Month -- a perfect time to remind our residents that Clermont County Children's Protective Services has several children who are looking for the love and stability that a permanent family will bring them. Currently, 16 children are awaiting adoption in the county. "Every child deserves a permanent family," says Adoption Supervisor Julie Jordan.

Veterans Day parade is Nov. 11
Clermont County's Veterans Day Parade will be held Friday, Nov. 11, in the Village of Batavia. Lineup begins at 6 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office, 575 West Main St., Batavia, and the parade starts at 7 p.m.
The event will feature bands from several local high schools. Ron Chapman, Commander of the American Legion Department of Ohio, will speak during the event. Read more here.

Community service offers alternative
Juvenile offenders 'give back' through work

Many juvenile offenders participate in a community service work detail that offers them a chance to make reparations to the community. Employers throughout Clermont County have partnered on this program for several years. As supervisor of the program, Nikki Nicodemus of Juvenile Probation, left, comes to know the youth who are in her charge. Read more here.

ELDER FRAUD PROGRAM: A Consumer Protection and Elder Fraud Forum presented by Park National Bank, will take place at 5 p.m. Nov. 1 (today). This event is free. The forum will take place at the Holiday Inn Eastgate. Join Clermont Senior Services as panelists from several agencies, including the Ohio Attorney General's Office, the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau and ProSeniors, conduct a Q&A session to address fraud and scams aimed at the aging population. Seating is limited; call 513.724.1255 to RSVP; light refreshments will be served.

CONGRATULATIONS, JOE: The National Alliance on Metal Illness Southwest Ohio honored Chief Probation Officer Joe Ellison with its 2016  Criminal Justice/Mental Health  Award in Excellence at its Evening of Hope on Sept. 28 at the Cintas Center. 

WANT TO QUIT SMOKING?  In preparation for the Great American Smokeout, Clermont County Public Health is hosting a free tobacco cessation presentation from noon-1 p.m. on Monday Nov. 14. REGISTRATION OPEN FOR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY:  Registration is now open for the Clermont County Organizational Leadership Academy by Ohio State University Extension Clermont County. The Academy is designed for elected officials from county, municipal, and township governments, and appointed individuals serving on local government committees, zoning and planning commissions, school boards or task forces.
