Do you know someone here in Cleveland Heights who is doing her part to serve others, transform her community or change history? Whether she is out in front leading the charge or quietly working in the background, ensuring everyone is taken care of—Cleveland Heights City Council would like to honor her for Women’s History Month.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, City Council will recognize five (5) Amazing Women of Cleveland Heights, three (3) Women in Business, and two (2) Inspiring Young Women at its Women’s Day Ceremony at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Boulevard.

Tickets for RENT at Cain Park Go on Sale

Tickets for Cain Park’s first musical of the season, RENT, will go on sale at 10:00 am this Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Jonathan Larson's iconic rock musical RENT has been inspiring audiences for over a quarter century. Winner of the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical, RENT follows a group of artists, performers, and philosophers from New York's East Village as they struggle against poverty, social discord, and the AIDS epidemic while searching for life, love, and creativity.

RENT runs Thursdays through Sundays from June 8–June 25.
Tickets for the Preview performance on Thursday, June 8, are $25 each with no additional discounts. For all other performances, tickets are $35 each, discounts apply for in-person or phone sales.
Cleveland Heights residents receive 15% off tickets for RENT on Opening Weekend only, June 9-11. You must bring proof of residency and purchase your tickets at City Hall.

Cain Park tickets are available online through etix, but purchasing tickets through the Cain Park box office is the only way to receive Senior, student, or military discounts. It also saves you the cost of the online processing fee.
To take advantage of these benefits, you no longer need to wait until Spring when Cain Park’s box office opens. A Cain Park ticketing station is now open on weekdays at Cleveland Heights City Hall, 40 Severance Circle.
Tickets for Pat Metheny’s Side-Eye Tour on Saturday, June 17, at 8 pm are currently on sale. Tickets for more concerts and theater performances will be available in the coming weeks.

Premium seats are still being held for Cleveland Heights residents and Friends of Cain Park members. Information about their release will be made at a future date.

Cleveland Heights compiling results from local ARPA survey |
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Between July and November, the city received nearly 1,400 survey responses on how to spend roughly $19 million in remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
About $10 million of that could still be set aside in a separate reserve account for "city revenue replacement."
Cleveland Heights has received a total federal allocation of nearly $39 million in ARPA funds to offset the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the damage caused to local economies and residents.
Cleveland Heights Director of Communications and Public Engagement Mike Thomas presented an overview of the survey results Feb. 21 to City Council. Another meeting is scheduled for this week.
Last summer, city officials compiled a list of 14 choices for residents, asking them to list their top five picks for ARPA funding. The money has to be obligated by the end of 2024 and fully spent by the start of 2027...

The Cleveland Heights Spring Egg Hunt Returns!

The City of Cleveland Heights will hold the Annual Spring Egg Hunt for children ages 1-9, Saturday, April 1, at 10:00 am (SHARP!) at the Forest Hill Park Meadow near the playground.
This is a FREE event, but we ask that families please bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the Heights Emergency Food Center.
Children should wear old clothes and boots in case of poor weather. Please bring your own bags or egg baskets.
If the weather is severe on April 1, the program may be moved to the Forest Hill Tennis Courts or inside the Community Center. Please call 216-691-7373 on the morning of April 1 for information).

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong and is designed to be played by people of all ages.
Recreational Indoor Pickleball
This program is for ages 18+.
Participants should wear clothing that allows movement and court shoes or athletic shoes. There are six courts available for play. We have a few beginner Pickleball paddles for those who do not have their own paddle. Water, locker rooms, and restrooms are available.

Recreational Outdoor Pickleball
Outdoor Pickleball is played at Dennison Park, which has six lined Pickleball courts. The group plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays although the courts are open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and are lighted for evening play. Bring water, a hat and balls. Restrooms and a drinking fountain are available.
NOTE: The Denison tennis courts are scheduled to be resurfaced sometime in May this year, weather allowing.

Attendees can meet school principals and teachers, ask questions, and tour the buildings.

Appointments are required; please call 216-371-7430 to schedule a time slot. Parents MUST bring all the necessary items. If all items are not available, the appointment must be rescheduled.
Kindergarten in CH-UH is tuition-free and full-day. Specials include Music, Art, Spanish, Physical Education, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Heights United has opened registration for two programs:
- Their Pre-School (ages 2.5–5) Spring Tiger Cub Soccer Academy at Dennison Park, which will be held at 10:00–11:00 am on Saturdays, April 15–May 13; and,
- Their Summer Day Camp and Summer Soccer Academy for ages 6-12, which will be held weekdays from 9:00 am–3:00 pm, June 5–July 28 at the Cleveland Heights Community Center.

Grants of Up to $5,000 are Available to Retailers to Help Eliminate Plastic Checkout Bags | |
The Cuyahoga County Departments of Consumer Affairs and Sustainability, with support from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, invites retailers to apply for the Sustainable Stores Grant.
The grant was developed to help local retail stores be more environmentally sustainable and comply with the Disposable Bag Ban.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to:
- Support retailers’ efforts to eliminate plastic checkout bags from their operations;
- Educate consumers and retailers about the County's Disposable Bag Ordinance; and,
- Establish a consumer culture of reusable woven bag use for all shopping trips in Cuyahoga County.

The deadline for artists to submit their artwork for consideration for Cain Park’s 46th Annual Arts Festival has been extended until Midnight, Friday, March 10, 2023.
The Cain Park Arts Festival is a juried art competition. Jury choices are based exclusively on artistic merit as represented by the artwork submitted. No geographical, organizational, or political criteria are employed in making selections. Every applicant, except for the previous year’s prize winners, undergoes the same anonymous, critical evaluation by our jury.
The 2023 Cain Park Arts Festival will take place Friday, July 7–Sunday, July 9. 2023.
