Now is the time to shop for cheap electricity in Northeast Ohio; here's how - Saving You Money |
Electricity prices will double for many Northeast Ohioans this summer. If you want to avoid paying more come June, now is the time to shop for a better deal.
The standard price will jump to 12.4 cents a kilowatt hour in FirstEnergy territory this June, up from 5.9 cents in May. A home using 750 kilowatt hours each month would pay about $93, up from $44, and that’s only part of your bill.
But you can pay as little as 6.3 cents per kilowatt hour if you shop on the open market and choose your own electricity supplier. A huge savings for most people.
That is unless, of course, you live in a city that already negotiated a cheap rate. So much about electricity prices in Northeast Ohio really depends on where you live...

Amazon Driver Receives Award for Heroism in Cleveland Heights | |
Congratulations to Amazon driver John Davis on receiving a 2023 Hero Award from the Northeast Ohio Region American Red Cross.
While delivering packages in Cleveland Heights, Mr. Davis smelled smoke. Looking across the street, he saw it billowing from the basement of an apartment building.
John rushed to help and learned a boy and his father were inside. He entered the home and, unable to see, yelled for them to crawl to him. He grabbed the boy and took him outside to safety before going back in and bringing the father out. Both escaped without injury, thanks to John’s heroic actions.

Tips for Lawn Care Following No-Mow May
As we head into the holiday weekend and prepare for hosting family and friends, here are a few tips for easing your lawn out of No-Mow May:
- Set your mower at its highest height. Then mow the grass at your regular height.
- Consider leaving your grass longer. Longer blades protect grass roots and keep the grass greener.
- Don't mow or blow your grass clippings into the street.
- Soak your lawn with the sprinkler.

ALERT
Traffic Pattern Change at Cedar and Lee Roads
| |
In the coming weeks, as the Cedar-Lee-Meadowbrook project begins construction activities, the traffic pattern at the Cedar-Lee intersection will change to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and construction workers.
Once implemented, the right-hand eastbound lane of Cedar Road will be a right-hand turn-only lane (except for RTA buses to maintain service at the existing bus station). The left-hand eastbound lane will be a straight/through-only lane, meaning the left-hand turn northbound onto Lee Road will be prohibited during construction.
The westbound lanes on Cedar Road and traffic on Lee Road will maintain their current lane and traffic patterns (including restricted left-hand turns for westbound Cedar Road traffic onto Lee Road during restricted rush hour times). Caution is still advised when traveling these unimpacted lanes, as they will remain within an active construction zone.
