City Operations
City Council Vacancy
Due to the resignation of Councilwoman Mary Dunbar as of August 16, there is a vacancy on City Council. The City has been in contact with the Board of Elections and legal sources to determine the legalities of filling the vacancy, either by application or ballot. As soon as this decision has been determined, the information will be posted on the website and on other media outlets.

The next Council Committee of the Whole meeting will be held in person at City Hall on Monday, August 23 at 6:30pm. You can also view it live by visiting http://www.youtube.com/c/cityofclevelandheights/live.
The Public Safety and Health Committee of Council meets in person at City Hall on August 26 at 6pm and the Finance Committee of Council will meet on Monday, August 30 at 6pm.

Councilwoman Mary Dunbar Resigns
After ten dedicated years on Cleveland Heights City Council, Mary Dunbar resigned on August 16 due to growing health concerns. As a councilwoman, she brought attention and energy to important issues such as sustainability, green spaces, fitness, bicycling, and the parks, and was instrumental in the creation of the Transportation Advisory Committee. Dunbar’s term was originally set to expire in 2023.

Drive-Through Food Distribution at Community Center
The Cleveland Heights Community Center is partnering with the Cleveland Food Bank to be a distribution point for The Farmers to Families food box program providing farm fresh food to Cleveland Heights residents in need. The next distribution date is August 26 at the Community Center, 1 Monticello Blvd. Those interested must call 216-691-7377 in advance to reserve your box since supplies are limited.
 
This Week at Cain Park
The Cleveland Heights Centennial Celebration continues at Cain Park with a free dance concert of breakdancing, hip hop, dance movement, live music, and poetry – “Kolade-Xcope”– on August 21 in the Alma Courtyard at 3pm and on the pathway outside the Alma Courtyard at 5:30pm. This is followed at 8pm with Musical Memories – the Best of Cain Park Theater reuniting beloved cast members and an eleven-piece orchestra for showstopping numbers from decades of musical productions. Ron Davis and Friends perform a free jazz concert on Sunday August 22 from 1-4pm, followed by a free chamber music concert on Tuesday August 24 at 8pm with Trial By Fire. Cedar Fairmount Summer Fun
Our rainy summer won’t stop Summer Fun in the Cedar Fairmount district! The postponed events from August 12 have been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 25 from 7 to 8:30pm in the Firestone parking lot: Blue Lunch, an architectural walking tour of the district (meet Ken Goldberg in front of Chipotle), children’s games and activities at the Cleveland Heights Church, the Heights Library Book Bike, and “Make It. Take It. Shake It” with Debbie Apple Presser and Robin VanLear. Visit the Cedar Fairmount website.
 
Noble Gardeners’ Market Continues on Saturdays
The Noble Gardeners’ Market continues every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon at the Noble-Roanoke Park until September 25. All the produce sold is grown in backyards or community gardens. You can also admire the beautiful new mural that looks over the Park one block north of Monticello. Please bring small bills and lots of coins. Parking is free at street meters.
