Fireworks Prohibited to Celebrate the New Year
You may have heard about a new law signed by the Governor that states starting in July 2022, the public may use fireworks in Ohio on certain holidays. As New Year’s Eve 2021 approaches, however, Cleveland Heights residents should be aware that it is still unlawful to set off fireworks within City limits on any occasion (Section 1509.04 of the City’s ordinances). Even after the new state law is enacted, the City expects to continue to ban the discharge of fireworks, as it is allowed to do under the new law.

Cain Park is accepting applications for the 2022 Cain Park Arts Festival, which is scheduled to take place July 8-10, 2022. Application deadline is March 4.

Holiday Lights Recycling
Drop-off bins are currently available in front of the Cleveland Heights Service Garage located at 14200 Superior Road to deposit used strings of holiday lights for recycling. Bins will be available at this location through January 21. Also, through January 31, thanks to the CH Green Team, residents can drop off broken, non-working, or used strings of lights and extension cords at any of the four Heights Libraries branches. A box to deposit holiday lights for recycling will be clearly labeled in all locations. Items recycled at the Library will benefit the Cleveland Zoo's “Lights for Lions” conservation initiative.
