DECEMBER RECAP, HIGHLIGHTS, AND MORE
MUSEUM EXHIBIT OPENING NIGHT: The event was filled with excitement, remembrance, curiosity, and of course, storytelling. It was especially inspiring to hear the personal memories attendees shared as they walked through the new exhibit. Special shoutout to our amazing Museum Curator Allyse Freeman and her talented team for resurrecting the fascinating history of Prohibition on the Iron Range. ‘Never Dry’, will be on display in our museum through December of 2023.
ANNUAL RAMS DINNER: MDC was proud to sponsor and attend the Range Association of Municipalities and Schools (RAMS) Annual Dinner last month. The event featured a recap of RAMS work in 2022 and highlighted the organizations priorities to strengthen our schools and municipalities in 2023. MDC Development and Marketing Director, Jordan Metsa, attended the event and was able to chat with area community, legislative, and business leaders about MDC's top priorities heading into 2023.
A MEETING WE WOULD NEVER MISS: Last month, MDC staff finally got to meet Lucy and welcome back Alyssa, one of MDC's Sales & Events Managers, from maternity leave. Lucy is a ball of cuteness that we absolutely love having around! Some of Lucy's favorite things to do so far are hanging out with mom around the office and playing with her older sister Ella at home.
EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHT: MDC employees, Brayden (left), Erin (middle), and Shelly (right) have been extra busy keeping our snowshoe trails groomed this winter. Every once in a while, we get a cool selfie like this one taken in front of a piece of mining equipment on display at the Glen Location. We are so grateful to have an amazing team of people who bring history oriented experiences to our
visitors year-round!
MDC HISTORY HIGHLIGHT
HISTORY HIGHLIGHT: On a brisk winter day in 1893, dozens of Iron Range residents, miners, and mine owners gathered to watch the first shipment of ore being loaded at the Mountain Iron Mine. 135+ years later, Rangers are still mining in Mountain Iron, Mn, providing the minerals that make modern life possible. This photo is a part of a large collection of historic images that are housed at the Iron Range Research Center.
